View Full Version : Which shoe is stronger?

Is it just me, or is the left shoe in a pair always a stronger shoe. My friend and I both had Rowley Slims. He had his longer than me and was able to skate more because I had wrestling. And he skates hard. Then I got my Rowley Slims. About a month later, his shoes looked fine and I looked like I got shot in the foot twice. I have one friend that's also goofy, and his shoes get torn up easily just like me. All my other friends skate standard and their shoes last longer. Think companies are playing to statistics? I can see it either way. More people goofy, more shoes bought, OR, Less people goofy, stronger shoe. What do you think?

I'm with you. I bought the new Kenny Andersons with the extra strong rubber on the side and they have been torn. I'm also goofy.

No. It just depends on how you skate, or maybe your friends were using shoe goo.

no, I'm just silly and flick drag and stuff like that really hard so even with leather super glued shoes I put holes in them.

depends on how much you skate, the tricks you do, the way you slide your foot, how hard you skate, whether you skate all regular or split up with switch skating, what grip tape you have and probably a lot of other factors.

I know for a fact that none of my friends use shoe goo. And I taught one of my friends to skate. He's standard and his ollie and just about everything else he does looks like me. And then there's the guy who skates harder. I definately think there's a difference here.

Okay, well maybe you just got badly manufactured ones.

maybe you drag to hard, I feel like I dragged harder when I was first doing ollies than now. Now I barely drag it just comes naturally before I'd force it.

I dont think that a left shoe is stronger cause my last pair of Etnies Bastien's the left shoe was torn all apart.

That wouldn't explain why every single one of my shoes has gotten torn up where I ollie. The dragging might explain it, but they guy I taught to skate drags just as hard, if not harder, and his shoes are fine.

Your left shoe isn't getting as much action as your right shoe if you don't skate switch that often.

theres no way to actually tell that really. beginners usually won't drag as hard because they're not used to it, also how hard you pop goes into it too. timing also plays in it, if his timing is a little off then he may just be sort of kicking off the board so that the shoe isn't really dragging along the board that much. also if hes only doing ollies, and say your doing other flip tricks, that is a big part of it. i've found that kickflips seem to wear on shoes harder than ollies. if you take a brand new shoe and do an ollie it wont show much, do alittle kickflip and it will show alittle more. also a good way to test it (well kinda good) is to take off your front shoe, kickflips in socks hurt way more than ollies.

He is a lot better at flip tricks than me. I can kickflip 1/3 he can do it 2/3 and varial occasionally.
