Ok I am a total newb. Basically no experience with skateboarding. However, I have been snowboarding for a while and really like that. So that is my motivation for getting into skateboarding. Also, it is something to do that is fun.

Anyway, here are my newbish questions.

What type of concave is best? I read somewhere on here that a bigger concave is better for tricks.

How should I decide on the width and the length of the board?

Finally, I am not really into the graphics and wouldn't mind saving a bit of cash so what do you all think of blankdecks.com?

That is it for now though I am sure that I will have more later

Ok, concave is really up to you, but I find too much makes it difficult to balance. And if you think it's going to be easy, you are WRONG. Length is pretty standard, around 33 inches and 7.75-7.5 width is pretty standard too. blankdecks.com is the best place to get blanks in my opinion, and which one to get is up to you.

Good luck, and happy to have another skater in the world.

what would you personally recommend for the concave then? Medium? Thanks for the info by the way. I don't think it is easy, don't worry be happy

I like medium concave. There is no problem with graphics though, and I like being able to try out the concave and pop of a deck by trying it out on the floor of my local skateshop. Only get it online if you NEED the extra money.

Krux are good trucks, these would probably be good strong trucks

or these

http://blankdecks.com/trucks/venture_colored_trucks.htm

Ventures also very good trucks

http://blankdecks.com/trucks/thunder_trucks.htm

Or you could go with some thunders another good truck company.
I would recomend any one of these trucks, all are strong and durable.

What is the deal with wheels and the fact that they have grooves and tread or something like that. Can someone explain that to me?

Thanks for the replys guys. I got another question though. Does ATM make good decks? Finally, I don't know if anyone answer that question above about the wheels.

if you want trucks that are good and cheap get titan tri-lites and for bearings go with bone reds. As for the deck size the small it is the easier it is to flip but its hard to land tricks so id go with 7.62 to 7.75

Uhh... Concave isnt everything. Look more at the overall baord. Do alot of research before buyung boards or else you will get something crappy and realize it in a few weeks. But blank decks are ok to start and DO NOT get anything related to the sellout bam... It will suck.

ricta wheels are good and its also nice to get a board with the same concave on each side. this way, you dont have to worry about which way you're facing. o yeah, destructo trucks are good but you've got to know which kind. the bam pro trucks are good. also me and my friends all have element bam decks and they are really good. you dont have to let me be an influence. what kind of skateboard you get is up to you.
