Whats is line on a grip tape that tells you which side is the noise and which is the tail called?
smurf88
02-15-2006, 05:14 PM
Normally, there isn't one. That would be a custom design.

Oh Okay, I just wanted to knwo because soem of muy friends have this line on one side of the deck so they can tell which side is the tail and which one is the noise. I might get one when I get my next deck but before I ask for one I need to knwo the name of it.
smurf88
02-15-2006, 05:20 PM
Just put it on yourself.
Tilly&theOllie
02-15-2006, 05:25 PM
I don't know how?
smurf88
02-15-2006, 05:37 PM
Take a sharpie and mark the tail, or apply the grip tape yourself and leave out a line.

If you want one of those "lines", mark two lines with a marker or something, make them about an inch apart, then take a knife and carve the lines, make sure you carve it down past the tape into the wood. Duuuuh. It peels off very easily if you're trying to.
Tilly&theOllie
02-15-2006, 10:02 PM
Okay how do you tell which side is the tail and which is the noise without the line?
Galadar
02-15-2006, 10:10 PM
nose=longer
tail=shorter.
a good way to tell is to have a different color bolt..
or cut a line or sign or anything just to tell you the tail

Cutting it marks a line into the wood. And makes it easier to break.
There isnt a name, its called a line. Ask for a line, or use a marker. Or you can take on of your nuts out, colour it and stick it back in.
But it isnt that hard to figure out the nose and the tail, you can usally tell the difference when you are skating.

How the **** can a scratch on the surface compromise its durability? He's not carving through a whole layer of wood. Retard.
crkptsnl
02-19-2006, 02:37 AM
it makes a scratch that keeps getting bigger when you ride the board and soon it turns into a crack which makes the board easier to snap
Lanzo
02-19-2006, 02:44 AM
omg, i was thinking the tail was bigger. Would it really hurt to ride it the other way?
smurf88
02-19-2006, 02:46 AM
Yes, it would. It looks retarded and you get less power and control for flips.
Koolaid
02-19-2006, 05:05 AM
just ask them to put a line theyll know what you mean... i had it on my flip on my girl i have checker board though :(

just get a deck and use a blade to mark the grip tape line (myn is like a crack :D ) Then ut the 2 sets of griptape on. make sure u put it on slow so there arent any airbubbles :D

Haha, you are the retard. Do you know what pressure cracks are? Well, its like that, except horizontally. Add pressure to a already weak spot, will make it easy to break. Trust me. Now shut the **** up, and don't say shit if you don't know what you are talking about, jackass.
And CARVING a design into a board isn't going to scrach it, its going to go into the wood.

You do realise you can just cut the grip, plenty of people do it and it doesn't destroy their decks.

I like my board with the bigger tail in the back, it looks better, feels better, and I skate better that way.

It looks worse, feels worse, and makes everyone else skate worse. You'll look like an idiot if any skaters see you riding like that.

02-19-2006, 10:59 PM
I dont think so, having the bigger tail in the front isnt going to look cool, your foot feels lower to the ground, and feels like you have less room.
in my opinion it doesnt help me at all, I ride a Girl and everyone knows they got weird shape to em', so its hard to skate big tail in front.
smurf88
02-20-2006, 12:03 AM
Maybe for you, but not for normal people. Also, it isn't the 'bigger tail,' it's the nose.
just skate dude

I've been trying with the big end out front and I cant do shit. Not that I'm any good at skateboarding but i cant ollie nearly as high as i can with the big end under my food. I asked my friends if that mattered and they laughed at me. Saying it didn't matter.
smurf88
02-21-2006, 09:56 PM
If you want to look like a decent skater, it matters. Also, if you can't do tricks with the nose on the front but you can with it on the back, then there's something wrong with you.
i find smurf pretty goddamn funny. every time i read a post like this...

This is the correct reaction. If you don't react in this way to my posts, don't reply.

Wow, that was a nice little flame war. Glad to see its over, i hate to see pople trashing eash other on the INTERNET, its really childish. But anyways cut the line out before you put the tape on it looks alot better.

I always skated bigger end in the back because I figured it would make me ollie higher, then I started to want to learn tre flips and noseslides so i switched. I cant tell a huge difference in riding but I am trying to make it habit. I dont think it looks any different, and the only time I can tell which way is which is when I am tre flippin.
