what exactly are the pros of having risers, other than preventing wheel bite?
and are there any problems with having them?
also what are the pros of NOT having them?
any problems (other than wheel bite) in not having them?

They make the board pop higher, which can be good if you want slightly higher ollies, but it feels different. Also, they help prevent cracks on the board around the trucks.

well ive got a pair and i was trying to decide whether or not to use them. i remember someone saying the board is easier to control without them. dont know if thats true or not though. im still learning, i can get the board to ollie but i just cant land it (lol). so will the risers help or hurt the learning prosess.
i dont know if they even really make a difference, just a noob asking a noob question

^ yeah they also act slightly as shock pads (preventing pressure cracks) only just not as much as actually having shock pads.

How are shock pads? I was maby considering short stacks and was wondering if it would kinda take the pop out of the board. What exactly is it made out of?

I think they're made of rubber.

shock pads are alright, i don't use them but short stacks would be ok. they're not really needed tho unless your doin stuff over 8's

If there were any, everyone would be using risers.

pros... no wheelbite. and a little bit of absorbed shock on landing but not much.
cons.. i dont know if there are any. but its not one of those "theres no cons, so use them!" situations.
you only need them if you have loose trucks or big wheels.... where you tend to get wheelbite easy.
or if you want higher trucks.

i had them on a low truck and they were fine but if there were on like mids and highs then it would suck

Honestly if you cant spend less than 5 bucks and dont know how to unscrew 4 screws and put them back in thats kinda weird...

A con is that you lose a little pop.

is that you lose a little pop while using risers or you lose pop when you dont use them?

if u have high trucks i guess u would have to much pop which could be pretty bad. I use risers for pressure cracks

Risers don't add pop, they just change the angle of the pop which makes it a little higher.
