I was wondering how do you get used to kickturns on 1/4 pipes. ive just started and am having trouble. should i lean back or lean forward? when i lean forward the board shoots out behind me. also how do i get to the top to perform a axle stall?

For the rock n roll, you lean backwards to stay nuetral with the slope and lean forwards after you turn. To do an axle stall, you roll to the top and then right before you get to the coping, turn using your back trucks instead of carving so you don't grind. Then stay there for a moment and roll back down.

Smurf a kick turn is not a rock n roll... correct me if im wrong but a rock n roll is when you ride up a ramp, let your front truck hang over the coping, then go back down backwards. A kick turn is where you dont go all the way up a ramp and push on the tail to swing around and roll back down forward. Right?

Almost, thats a rock'to'fakie. A rock'n'roll is where you let your trucks hangover the coping and then do a kickturn. To the author, on a kickturn just try to do a manual but also a pivot at the same time. I'd try to get better at manuals first. But thats just me.

Breene, your talking "Rock to Fakie". Learn how to kickturn on flat ground, frontside and backside, then start doing them on banks and 1/4 pipes. For kickturns, keep you weight evenly balanced between both legs. Don't worry about axle stalls till you can kickturn and grind on the 1/4 pipe.

I typed 'rock n roll' by mistake.

You should work a rock to fakie on the little kicker ramps first to get the feel of it.
