Pop a little harder and start turning earlier. Commit, commit, commit.

maybe he's goofy? lmao i'm completely confused. for bs 180, try putting your back foot closer to the toe side edge of your board, tail, whatever, like a 360 flip, but not with your back foot hanging off. after you ollie try to whip your back foot around for the 180. kind of like ollie to bs 180.
i learned bs 180's doing a 90 -> pivot the rest, just do a 90 and kinda push down hard and lean forward when u land and whip your back foot around, once again to get the pivot.

being regular or goofy has literally nothing to do with backside and frontside.
i only recently learned decent backside 180s, and ive been skating like 7 years. i never really tried before, but i actually started to a few weeks ago.
for me.... you need the pop. and you need good board control...
i guess.. start turning your shoulders a little before you pop so you already have a little momentum going. then pop and get you board leveled out. also, stay over the board.. a lot of people tend to like.. hunch over too much and that lets the board get away from you, and youd land off balance. your back foot is important too, cause it helps get the board around through the 180. thats why you need board control.
i dont know.. timing, pop, control... etc. you just have to practice, really.

backside 180 for a goofy skater is the opposite for a regular skater

I find backsides easier to do down stuff, but frontsides are easier on flat.
I think I made a vid on these once, let me find it.

That may help.

Link doesn't work.
I never understood why if you turn backwards, it's called frontside, and if you turn frontwards, it's called backside.
