all i can really say is practice you ollies and try them on boxes first because they're easier and a little less scary. its just ollieing up onto it.

Maybe try placing the board on the rail, run and jump on the board?

EDIT: May help you get over the fear of grinding.

On any sort of rail, try not to go on an angle, but paralell(spelt wrong probably) to the rail. that way, you get on straight and dont have to worry about falling off the rail. i used to think about that but when i started doing what i do now, i dont worry about it and i dont fall off the rail. btw i have a square mojo rail that i can 5050 1st 2nd 3rd extension, but i usually use second. i find it easiest to start on square rails, but practicing on circle rails wont hurt. also, go from the lowest extension on your rail to the highest(if you have extensions).

I think angled is easier for me, it's different for everyone, I just think it feels wierd to ollie forward directly.

well i guess it's ok on a square rail, but it's really unlikely that you will get on and slide a 5050 on a circle rail coming on an angle.
