ok so i was looking at thunder trucks cause everyone says theyre so great. (dont really need new trucks, just browsing) but the only size ive seen them in is 145mm. and my indys are 139mm which i though was just right or slightly large for my 7.75 deck. so does that mean that the thunders are even wider?

also does the width of the trucks really make much difference at all?

no, the 145's are normal. i'm skatin them now on a 7.75 and they're fine.

so then why does indy mostly sell 129 and 139? (i know they sell others, but those are average for them) i know 145mm isnt that much different from 139mm, but how well would one of the 145mm Thunders fit on like a 7.5?

i don't know why, maybe indy just sucks. they'll work fine on a 7.5. they're just like any other truck.

thunders: 145 = 7.625", 147 = 8"

indy: 129 = 7.75, 139 = 8"

all trucks should just say how wide they are, in inches, end to end. thats how boards are measured (well, side to side, but you know what i mean.)

does it really make any difference if you put a larger or smaller sized truck for the board? like if you put a thunder 147 on a 7.5" board, what would be the difference? or the thunder 145 on a 8" board?

the trucks would stick out a quarter inch on each side with 8s on a 7.5, and theyd be too skinny with 7.625s on an 8.

its better to have your board wider than your trucks than your trucks wider than your board, though. it just works a little better, and it looks better too.

well i gathered they would stick out a bit, but what would the difference in feel be? i got 139 idys on a 7.75 board, and it was my first board so i wouldnt know if it felt weird.

there wont be much of a difference at all when its that small of a difference in width, so it doesnt matter, but you should still have trucks that are as wide or a little skinnier than your board.

ok thanks. i just bought a new board cause that AWS has a huge chip in the nose and a bad razor tail. my new one is a Toy Machine "American Monster" and is 7.875". so itll be fine. gonna wait till the AWS its fully dead before i get on the TM though
