there is no best, its all personal preference.

i like 8 to 8.25, but 8.125 is my favorite.

nice rounded nose and tail, nose a tiny bit bigger than the tail, but neither small.. medium concave, ends a little steeper than normal.

i had heared it more your feet size that matters like im a 10 and a half so i shuld use a 7.75 but ya i like 7.75 so stick with what you think is best

I love 8 inches...I've never tried anything bigger though. I might sometime. I rode my cousin's smaller deck (like 7.5) the other day and it felt so wrong.

The nose and tail I like to be symmetrical shape wise. I HATE when one end is more round than the other or shaped like a banana. Nice and round on both ends suits me. But not square. I hate that too.

The nose being a little longer and steeper is better though...since pretty much all decks are like that anyway.
