It depends on the level of contest you enter. You want to make sure you land every trick, or almost every trick you try, and you need a lot of variety. Trying something original (like an original bank trick) can't hurt too.

You can also try some original gaps, that nobody else has done.

i was just recently in a contest 4 days ago and i kept trying to go for a inward heelflip and only landed it one time so just try a lot of variety and manuals are THE bomb in contests especially like kickflips or shuv it out trust me the crowd goes wild

You know, i have really no idea what i'm saying though, i've never been in a competition. lol. but i'm just guessing. Its the kinda stuff that impresses the little 5 year old non skaters at the skatepark, so hey, it might work.

I dont know really at least not street. In vert man its rough, they want you to throw down as much as you can. They LOVE AIR so if you are in a vert contest lips are good but airs are best

This isnt helping but who has noticed that contests, well and all skating, are all about grinds and slides now.. Its like they to b/s boardslide, f/s boardslide, smith grind shuvit out, and then finally they get like 3 ft of air on a bank doing a kickflip and the crowd goes crazy.

Yeah grinds look good but what happened to the good old fashioned flip tricks and shit.
