Has anyone seen the page in the new Skateboarding issue with the decks that have weirdness? Like, there's the Slick Drops from Popwar, the hollow Helium from Element, and the vertical ply thing from... someone else. I don't feel like picking it up and reading it right now.

Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone has ridden one of these vertical ply decks. How is it?

I'll edit this post as soon as I can to add a picture of it.

The name is Resin-V and it's from Blind.

I couldn't find any pics from the side. Apparently they're already popular.

I havnt seen it, But i think the element one is just a gimmick to try and sell more boards. and It's prolly the same thing with the others

I just purchased a Santa Cruz Power Lyte deck. :) All the websites say they're 22% lighter and 150% stronger than most decks. (Which is what I need cause I just snapped the tail off my board.)

How are Popwar Slick Drops different from normal boards? Are they lighter or what?

I bet 30 years ago they were saying the same thing about a big slab of oak.

I have skate a vertical ply deck, lush pop and you can chuck it round because they are un-delamable, they are also harder to snap, problem is the vertical ply wears down at a different speed to the normal ply so you have some bits sticking out randomly. Also it does mean they can snap at dodgy angles and places like striahgt down the middle.

They have little bumps on the nose and tail. There's less friction, for longer nose slides/tail slides. I have one, it's a great deck.

Skateboarding's skateboarding I myself don't want the board's to change, who want's to skate a bit of plastic? I certantly don't. A deck thats 25% lighter takes away the challange from skateboarding.. if there was no challange in it whats the point of doing it.

yeah wieght of board is shit, a board is a board so i dont care, if i can kickflip it im happy

I don't think a 25% lighter board really takes away the challange.

Yeah, if you say a skateboard's a skateboard, then don't say it takes away the challenge.

how can they put helium in a peice of wood and still have open holes that element boards a lie so they can sell more boards why dont they just tape balloons to the bottom so they really have a helium board

fudgepacker

It blatantly says that there is no helium used in the board.
