What are company's looking for?
And how can i get on a flow team?
What tricks should be obtained before makeing a sponsor tape?
What should be in a line (a spin a flip and a grind)?
I might be makeing a video with my friends this summer just some friends and me skateing and juggling.
we might try to put together sponosor me tapes for ourselves.
We are going to try to send it to zoo york because we beat a kid the other day in skate who is on zoo yorks flow team.
We will see how it goes and any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Flow is like you don't have your name on anything, they send you some stuff, if you keep getting better and better you go am. Then if you keep filming and getting better and people get turned onto your footage then you go pro.

thanks guys. now i got the real definition. do you request it when you send in a vid to the company or do they choose?

companies are looking for something a little different. somebody who stands out in a crowd, the kind of person that when you go to the skatepark, people are watching him skate. somebody with style and talent. they're also usually lookin for a nice, people friendly guy. if a little kid comes up to them and asks for some help with his kickflips, they don't want you to just tell the kid to **** off and to go watch some internet trick tips.
to get on a team, make up a video, send it out. or go to comps and if you start winnin, maybe someone there will notice you and hook you up.
there are no set tricks that you need to be able to do to get sponsored, maybe you can't tre flip an 8 stair but if you can half cab heel manual bs flip out will anyone really care if you can't bust a tre flip down that 8, i don't think so.
lines should be done with everything clean and tricks at a decent to fast pace. the faster and cleaner the tricks, the better. theres no set tricks for a line, just whatever looks good. also don't try to cram too many tricks in, if theres two ledges and they're not that far apart, don't try to do 3 flatground tricks inbetween, just do 1 fast moving trick instead. try to have your lines flowing, lets say theres two ledges, enough room for a good flatground trick inbetween. dont pick a line like fs 5-0, bs flip, fs tailslide. with that line after the bs flip you'll be riding fakie and then have to just turn your board around after that so you can do the fs tailslide. instead pick something like
fs 5-0, nollie heel, fs tailslide. see how that line would work better? the nollie heel will land in your regular stance, so then you can just setup and do the front tail after that. another thing about lines is if you can, try to put your harder trick at the end of the line, it just looks better but isn't too horrible if you can't. just if your going to do a line like kickflip bs 5-0, bs crook then just try to do the line so you do the bs crook first, then the kickflip bs 5-0. also in lines try to make your pushes smooth, but forceful. its better to take 3 bigger pushes than it is to take 5 short little choppy ones, just don't make them sooo huge that it looks awkward, just nice and smooth.

in a sponsor video you need all the basics and a little or big twist like find a doudle set and ollie the first one then nollie flip the second one then you need aline that throws everything out there like a nos mannie kickflip then a tre flip then throw in a nollie 180 then switch f.s. flip and then like noseslide a handrail

Yeah i finnally got my line down on the noseslide down the pyramid and a nollie 180 to a shifty to fakie. I also got my new line with a frontside noseslide to a nose blunt thing to a bs noseslide.

cant man Im working some stuff out like im working on getting the noseslide down the hubba, I finnally got a clean one down it the other day. I made a nice flowy line like some nose manuals and noollie one180s and shifty's. I found an oversized three and im gonna go for it soon. Also im working on a 5 set.
Im gonna start filming in the summer if i can get my grades good and stay outta summer school.

dont get too many of the same trick unless you totally rock at it (spanky, switch fs bigspins, or jeff lenoce with nollie heels) and unless you can totally shred that 5 i dont think its gonna impress the companies too much, post some footy and ill give you some better advice

sponsors are looking for a good ability for old school and new school. like in my video im making, i do a couple street plants and a 180 varial down some stairs

You should make sure it's not all street and throw some park/pool action in there too. Sponsors want to see that you can throw down at demos as well as film a good part.

do sponsors really care what clothes you wear, unless you are wearing like a stupid ali boulala hat to look cool?

Sponsors are looking the exceptional. They want riders with not only a deep bag of tricks but also a buttload of style. Doesn't matter if you can take down that 15 set or kfilp nose manny bigspin out that table top if you look like you have parkinson's doing it.
Basically you need to be high on talent and low on bullshit. Exceptions are of course a talented bullshitter!
Peace.

dookie416 i think sponsors do look at what clothes you wear to a certain extent, mainly just because clothing adds to your overall style. for example there was this dude at the park, he had mad skating style, super smooth and was killin the rail. bs smith in under 10 tries and bs tail 2nd try (its a pretty gnarly rail, i'd never seen either of those tricks on it), but anyways he had this punk style, super tight pants, frizzed out blonde hair, some punk band t-shirt and all the studded bracelts and shit. anyways i think it just took away from his style, didn't make him look as good as he could have. he was still a sick skater and everything it just always bothered me when watching him. i dunno but i guess its everyones own opinion on what looks good.
