I can only do a 50-50 if i go straight towards it and jump over and land. I cant come from the side then move my back truck over the curb/rail. Any tips on how to get both trucks on

when you ollie on, put your front truck on, and then kinda swivel your back truck on. it works for me on vert, except i do it opposite

Ok Ill try that tomorrow. But I think it would look better if i could land with both trucks on but i guess it will come in time.

I have another question, does it matter if you learn it on a ledge or a rail because the only ledge i have around here is a big block of wood that i have to wax all the time, but my dads going to build me a grind rail.

I think learning on a rail is a good thing...because you develop your balance...but learning on a ledge is a neccessity for skating park..so stick with the ledge, in my opinion...if you can grind that, you shouldn't have trouble with much else.

Ledges are great to learn on. Instead of trying the swivel method, you can just turn yourself and the board in the air to center yourself over the ledge/rail.

I dont think i have a choice but to learn on a rail, but i dont really see the diffrence because all a ledge is is a rail with a floor to the side. And i have a question about a kickflip. I can do them, but they are low to the ground. How can i make it where i go higher and flip the board, allowing me to "catch" the board.

Alright ive been trying to swivel the board in the air for the last few days and i just cant do it. I cant spin in the air and if i do the board leaves my feet. I think its because im to scared to land it.... Do you guys have any tips on how to make yourself do a trick???

Streetskater,
Some tricks are harder to learn than others. The swivel method works great but sometimes it's great to learn it from going straight on because it helps you build up your balance and that's a great thing to improve on. The Kickflip okay if you can do them low that's great. If you have them mastered then try sucking your knees up to your chest. Try doing it. If you learn how to do that your ollie will gain height, flip tricks will have more height, and you can get air off of kickers and so on. I hope this helps.

Ok i guess i will settle on going straight on and ive been practicing on the kickflip and now they are higher i found out that if i go faster then i go higher.

50-50 Are great but never try them in a wooden rail cause the wood chips and also you need a lot of wax... cause you get stuck i don't even use wax on wooden rail cause it doesn't work so great i use motor oil :p it's pretty slick

yeah wood sucks to grind on because you have to wax it allllllllllllll the time and it chips and splinters into pieces so yeah
