My parents were fine when i started skating. That was almost a year ago. Now they are way to overprotective. Why do parents have to monitor where you skate 24/7, and make sure you dont skate anywhere there is the slightest chance of BEING TOLD TO LEAVE. So what if Im told, "you cant skate here?"
When I started, I couldnt skate sets, or rails, ect. Now i can, and the biggest set Ive skated was a two set, and i got yelled at for it.
I know this may sound like a pointless post, but im pissed off. :-7:

My parents (divorced) want mea to either:
1. Read books, a book a week.
2. Go out for a "sport".
3. Be a nerd.

I think your parents dont want you to get hurt and thats why they are soo overprotective.Maybe now that you are getting into the better tricks, they are scared that you might break a bone or something lol.Just tell them that skating is what you like to do.You can get just as much hurt in any other sport.

tests have shown that you are more likely to get hurt playing rugy and football than any extreme sports.

Your parents didn't yell at you for the 2 set did they? This stuff saves lives and might get your parents to be less stressed.http://pix.summitsportsinc.com/19421.jpg

My parents are really straight, not divorced, nice people. I don't get along with them most of the time, but they still let me skate. I go skating where ever the hell I want. I can take out my video camera and video tape a security gaurd chewing us out and then hook it up to my computer later and watch it while there in the room. They just realize its what I love and they know I'm good at it, so it's all good. Just have a talk with them and see what's good and what's sketchy and maybe that will help.

My parents don't mind me skating and filming. It's only when we swear at the camera they get annoyed, which is fair enough.

I only live with my mom, and she's like that. I always have to tell her where I'm skating.

Man I'm so lucky I have such supportive parents, they always want to see new tricks and stuff.
Tell them this:
Skateboarding or drugs, take your pick.

Yeah but still give a little credit to your parents dude I mean at least they take cae of you. I love my mommy (seriously) she's a single parent that only wants what's best for me and my brother and sister, and she doesn't make that much money either. I respect my mom.

For the most part parents mean well, we love our kids. Some are just a little over protective.

That's true Skaterat. Hah, I remember when I first started, I had a crappy Walmart board, it was great fun cruising around on it, even though it sucked major cajones. My parents were fine with it, so I went with it. They're pretty lax when it comes to me skating, very supportive. =P They even bought me a board when I was broke, good parents.
