1. Ok so you think your ready for a 180... well lets see.
2. You need to know how to ollie pretty well and a good balance couldn't hurt?
3. Time for background info on the 180, a 180 ollie is simply ollieing and rotating yourself and the board 180 degrees, sticking with the board and landing it.
4. Now that the info is over, time for foot placement. Your back foot should simply be in the ollie position (as usual), and your front foot should be about 2 inches behind the bolts and at a 90 degree angle.
5. Its better to attempt a 180 while rolling so you can get the feel of it, so your rolling at a small to moderate and comfortable speed.
6. First step is to wind up your arms (not as far as they go but until your hip is kind of wound up too).
7. Next step is to pop the tail (simply put).
8. While unwinding the energy you put in turning your arms and hip, scoop the tail up from off the ground.
9. Now your spinning in the air, stick with the board and level out.
10. If you wound up enough, your board should have turn the whole 180 degrees and your with it. Bend your knees slightly for the impact.
11. Congrats you just now did a 180! Practice them til you can do them in your sleep!
Problems and Answers!
1. I spin, but the board does not: Your aren't popping and scooping up the tail, just remember to pop and push and bring up your back foot.
2. I land with my front foot on the board and my back in front of it: You slid up your front foot too much and it pushed the board back. If you can once you ollie slide your back foot near the bolts so it can atleast get on the board.
3. I land on the nose too much when I land and I go into nose manual and fall: Lean back slightly, not too much or you'll have a banana peel fall.
4. Once I land the board shoots out in front of me: When you land, you lean back too far, just lean a little more forward while you're in the air.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, =] Hope this helps you new skaters! :-1:
