Hey, I have a 36" Sector Nine longboard that I found on a campsite in a county park. It's it decent shape, and rolls pretty good. It has Venture Awake Trucks and generic ABEC-3 bearings. My goal: Make it more of a cruiser. I don't do a lot of skateboarding, and don't want to spend much money. Please give me suggestions that'll help me do this on a budget. The only skateboarding I'll be doing is cruising (I don't do tricks...). I saw some Kryptonics ABEC-5's on blankdecks.com I thought sounded pretty good, especially since they were (looked) servicable. Some insight into these would also be appreciated. Thanks.

Alright, well, don't just get Abec-5s if you're planning on making it roll well. Get some Abec-9s or Rockin' Ron's Rockets. Or Blank Panther Abec-9s. Abec-5 would be hella-slow.

i used abec 3 for some time.. if its abec, itll work. bigger number doesnt mean better... just newer.

i think your confused man, ABEC is a measurement for the tolerance of a ball bearing.

i always thought the number meant the amount of ball bearings within the bearing..

Kryptonics is a shit company anyway.

Haha, like they'd make a 1 ball bearing. All bearings have 7 balls.
While ABEC rating doesn't make much of a difference, I've found that most cheap bearing companies that make 1 or 3 ABEC bearings use grease, which is bad when applied by the company.
