When you download crap onto your Ipod from another computer, that makes the Ipod, in theory, part of that computer. So in order to put songs on it from your computer, it has to delete all the songs off of itself and start over again.

You don't have to delete your songs. I don't know who told you that willsk8. First off what kind of computer do you have PC or Mac? Next I only know how to deal with a Mac, but there might be software for a PC if thats what you (most likely) have. I use iPodRIP to get songs off my iPod. Check for software on the internet like google it or something. And even if you don't find it on there, there is a different way to rip the songs off without having to delete them or w/e.

Hmm, the man at radioshack told me that, and when I switched comps, thats what I had to do. Or it may have been the program, I switched from Itunes to realplayer.

Depending on what version on windows you run i think that will determine if it will work or not.

The problem is that you need third party software to upload music from and iPod onto a PC. iTunes will not rip music from an iPod to PC on its own. This is an anti-piracy measure by apple, I suppose. It is quite inconvenient.

total commander looks like a fileshare utility, like limewire, not software to rip songs off your ipod. i need that ipod rip software, it would be quite convienent because i have hundreds of songs on mine, and i could use a reformat.

it might not be design for that, but does that really matter... the only thing that matters is that it worked for me to get songs out of my ipod and into my computer
