Are risers a requirement for a board assemble? (and what's the purpose for a riser?)

No, risers aren't neccesary. If you have big wheels, or low trucks, or both, then riser pads are for you. They increase the distance from the wheels to the board, preventing wheelbite. Wheelbite is when the wheels scrapes underneath the board during turns, stopping it abrubtly and sending you flying. Shock pads are sort of like risers, but are a little softer to help dampen the shock from big drops (like 10 stairs or more), and prolong board life from stress cracks.

People used to collect risers with pictures on them. They used to trade them like Pokemon cards. hahaha

they just increse the amount of space between the deck and the wheels to prevent wheel bite.i use them and i dont have low trucks or very big wheels.. some kids use them jsut to get a diff feel for the board. it helps ollie too becuase it helps get a little more slant if you pop hard up.

they can make your deck last longer if they are softer. I have soft thin ones (dont need the extra clearence) and it puts somethin between the deck and the trucks.... they do NOT give a different feel, as most of the ground is absorbed by your shoes anyway (on paper, it looks like it gives a smoother ride, though in real life it doesnt, I know from experience) so get thin soft ones in my opinion :-)

if you have low trucks, getting risers is dumb.. because it eliminates the purpose of lows. if you want them higher, buy higher trucks.
big wheels or loose trucks.

If you accidently bought low trucks like I did, then in no way risers are dumb. I was. I wasn't paying attention.

must not for you but they add a bit more hieght witch in turn makes it a little diff... if i didtn, your saying if you got low trucks in the and highs, theys feel the same? nope.

no, I meant the absorbing of vibrations from the ground.... and the turning isnt really affected, right? only the height? I bought lower pads, and its the onl difference I can feel....

I use shock pads. I have mediumish wheels and sorta lose trucks but I just use shockpads for pressure cracks.
