well, I got the idea for this thread from what one member said in my deck design contest thread. If you have griptape that is cut up, drawn on, spraypainted, etc. in an artistic way, then put some pics of it on here! This should be cool!

Upload your picture here. (http://www.ramprage.com/forums/media/uploadphoto.php?cat=500) Then once it's uploaded use vB code to post it.

Thats a lot like i used to do mine, I would draw the symbol for "patience" in between the front bolts.

crypticpoet
06-13-2006, 10:03 PM
I love doing it. I think the best part of making a stencil is drawing it. Cutting it out is a pain in the butt, but then it looks epic if you do it properly.

Yeah, I ended up just buying a paint pen. Im a cheater.

06-14-2006, 04:59 AM
Do you cut the tape before puttin it on or after?
I did it after without thinking and now it's sticky...:D

crypticpoet
06-14-2006, 05:40 AM
If you buy a marker, you can screw it up when you draw it on. With a stencil, you know exactly what you want before you stick it on. Then all it comes down to is technique when you're spraying it on. Not too heavy, not too light....Just Right.

Wow. I'm hungry now.

TrAnCe
06-16-2006, 06:14 AM
yeah, I eat weet bix.... how do you cut the stencils out though? and how'd u get to becomne a RR Staff.. I thought they were all in England :-)

hmm.... someone tell me's, the onberlin looks nice, but how would u cut the circle in the O outta the stencil? isnt it too small?

crypticpoet
06-21-2006, 06:46 AM
It actually says "anberlin", not "onberlin." An understandable mistake, though, but it's their logo.

Yeah it was extremely difficult to cut out; but I mastered stencil cutting. You just make an extremely thin line of paper from the outer edge of the "a" to the inner circle, so that it stays in place. You have to be so careful with it, though.

And no, haha, the mods don't all live in England. One of the reasons I am a mod is because I can cover the Eastern Australia timezone.

Also, your description of where you live...Sydney is nothing like that, but that is off-topic.

TrAnCe
06-22-2006, 05:27 AM
yeah, anberlin it is....

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

that line apparently has SIX F's.... I think I'm goin blind :-S (theres 3 F's in the "of's" but everyone misses them coz they're blind)

btw (Off topic) you live near Hornsby. I live near the army barracs. Sydney is like that down ere mate

I see people with writing on there deck in different colors. Any one know what kind of markers they use. I knnow its not a normal crayola marker. Is it something special?

How do you make grip art? What do you need?

cardstock paper, an exacto knife, spraypaint and imagination.

as much as i thought of stenciling my boards i never thought of painting my tape. i might do that when i get some paint.

12-09-2006, 03:02 AM
im thinking about getting new griptape do i have to take the one already on off or can i just put it over the old griptape????

Dookie416
12-09-2006, 03:23 AM
you have to peel your grip off before you apply a new sheet.

12Pack
12-09-2006, 03:24 AM
Yeah dont try to overlay a new tape over the old one because the adhesive wont stick to the old tape.

Too much 'art' can look yuck.

I got this deck today. My new baby, from the dear people at almost. I can safely say that this is the best deck I have skated.

Anyway. My enamel (the stuff I use to spraypaint stencils on) got blocked and stuff, so I resorted to using one of my metallic pens. Sorry about the crappy, unedited, over-flashed image. I had a bit of trouble being bothered editing it. 'Ere:

Is it possible to use chalk to draw on your griptape? It looks like some of the locals do that. I'm not sure if it works.

Yep^.
I try to stay away from it though because it wears away.

strong_racing43
01-14-2007, 05:03 PM
Go to your local hardware store and ask them if they have them.
They are a pen but instead of ink in them they have paint.
They are about $4 a peice.

hops523
01-14-2007, 05:47 PM

i have a mate who is amzing at graffitti. i suppose i should ask him to do some art for me on mine. i reckon he'd probably do other peoples if you want it done. i dont think that would be a good idea anyway because it would be too much hassle posting it and everything you know.

hatchetman doesn't always have dreads, theres tons of variations
and a paint pen is basically a marker but it writes with paint (like spray-paint but without the spray)
