hey guys... after 2 years of skating, i just realized that i skate mongo regular. is this a bad thing? who else here has that style?

Stevie Williams skates mongo im pretty sure, but yea switch out of it . It'll take a bit but it's VERY worth it

Yea just go for it. Say to yourself you will never skate mongo again. That's what I did, and in about 2 weeks, regular pushing felt more natural to me than mongo.



EDIT: Just wandering, but doesn't Stevie Williams skate mongo? Or is that just when he's skating switch?

the thing is, i can skate mongo as clean as you guys that skate regular. but, skating regular for me is a very hard thing to get used to. but ill keep trying.

Stevie Williams skates goofy, but when he does switch to regular he does skate mongo..but hes aloud cause hes one of my fav skaters hes a badass

no. stevie skates mongo switch. there is not a pro on the face of the earth that skates mongo normally. mongo switch isnt unusual, its just using the same foot you normally use.

i have a friend who pushes mongo come to think of it .. and everytime he comes up to a ledge or rail or soem stairs he cant get his feet comfotably in the right place .. plus it gets annoying to see him struggle when pushing ...

Yea.
Regular:Right foot near the tail and pushing with the left leg(Mongo)
Goofy:Left foot near the tail and pushing with the right leg(Mongo)

I've been skating mongo. Realized how gay some people think it is and ditched the habit. When ever I need a ton of speed I use mongo tho. Everyone thinks im skating switch :)

Also it's harder to connect tricks like China said.

Yeah, i used to skate mongo, well i still do but only when im going to and from places that are far. I get alot more speed when i do it mongo. But now i've learned to skate regular and i do that whenever i try and to an ollie or something. It is really alot easyer to set up for a trick quickly than riding mongo.

I used to skate mongo, but I got rid of that habit. I can skate just as good regular now. It took me awhile to get used to but now its better and it looks alot cleaner to. Kick the habit if you can.

If you skated for 2 years without realizing you were mongo, then you probably don't skate with any good skaters. And therefore, you shouldn't assume that you're smoother than --or as smooth as-- the rest of us.
