Try practicing kickflips, shov-its and ollies you don't really have to worry about stairs for a while.

Welcome to RR!
Confidence and practise is all you need. Watch others skate, see how they do it. Then think about what you have to do. Then practise. Good luck!

you got a great ollie and a good manual, maybe work on ollie manuals, then go for shuvits and 180's. find a nice three stair youll ollie it no problem then work your way up to 5 youll do good, then worry about flips. See i like what feels good, not whats technically good but just a nice ollie over something small can make my day rather than a kickflip or a heelflip.

if you want to get good fast, then your probably going to want to skate more than 2 hours a day. And also, dont look at it as training.

Yeah, just have fun. That's the main thing that keeps people skating.

Just skate for fun. Try to skate everything and try all the different aspects and styles of skateboarding. Maybe one day skate some stairs or a ledge. Then the next day skate a park or a bowl. Being a well rounded skater will help a lot iin the future.

skate whatever you want, if you wanna skate manny pads then do it, if u wanna skate stairs then do it, oh, and to answer your question, do what you think is comfortable, instead of asking people you have never seen in your life.
and it's practice, not practise

try some sets, then work on flip tricks. start out with a kickflip, this will teach you how to stay over the board in air and will lead to tricks like varials and tre flips, after you get some good flip tricks down, try em off of things like sets and ledge. this process will take a long time so dont get frustrated have fun.

1. For your first two months...JUST ollie...ollie...ollie..ollie, if you get a solid ollie it will make doing things like stairs so easy, as well be a great thing to have for kickflips and other maneuvers. The Ollie is the basis for almost every trick.
2. Practice all the time, basically when I started skateboarding, I was out everday, just having fun skating with friends, even just riding around on your board helps you get more comfortable, whether its just going up hills, down hills, cruising around, it all helps.
3. Skate with people that will push you, it really helped to have a friend that would call me a pussy anytime I didnt want to try a stair set, and then he would throw himself down it at the sametime. I know it sounds bad, but competitiveness is great for your own skateboarding, it keeps you wanting to learn more all the time. As you get better you will push your firiends to get better and vice versa.

Just skate, and you will improve.
Exactly. Dont' worry about getting good fast or anything. What's the rush? If you like skating, you will have fun and improve at the same time.

dont learn tricks stationary because if you do you might have a hard time learning them moving like some people on here. learn them moving so u can like skip a step

Skating is like a puzzle. If I were you i'd learn every move first. Then take them bigger and bigger one step at a time. Focus :)
AND DON'T DO TRICKS STATIONARY

There's no proven method of getting really good, really fast.
Just remember.
-Use your full potential when trying new things.
-Practise daily (or as much as possible) to avoid losing your tricks etc.
-Watch a lot of skate videos for inspiration and to see foot placements etc.
And if all that fails...
-Spit and polish everything you know, so everything is super high, clean and looks EASY!
