canon gl2 = you can maybe find one for 1500$ but 3000$ retail
vx1000= around 1000$ (no handle)
vx2000= 1800$ if your lucky (same as vx1000 but with handle)
vx2100= over 2200$

the vx's are the standard.
my bro pat (owns the shop) has a vx2100 that was over 2000$ for the camera and the stock lense. the stock lense sucks for skate filming though. so he bought like.. a 700$ fisheye. so all together, its close to 3000$ for it.

Yeah.. haha a vx with no handle.
yeah, the vx line up is used by most filmers, some filmers use a dvx100b or a...

fisheye is over rated anyway.
a nice long lens shot beats fisheye anytime.

um wtf are you all talking about??
vx1k's... HAVE HANDLES
vx2k's ARE NOT LIKE THE VX1K'S
gl2's arnt used for almost all pro vid's..
but the century deaths are about 700
and i dont know of more then one filmer that uses dvx100b or a's for pro vid's(which is a shame)
i hate uninformed ppl srry
oh and spencer.. vx21k's dont come with stock lenses... they come with lens hoods,,, and fisheyes are yes overated some times but they deff are life savers

lol, don't worry spence, everyone else knew what ya meant. Hopeless, it's all good, nothing to get emotional about. I have a vx2100 and I love it. Color, sound, low light capes are pretty solid. Handle controls for the lazy filmer is a plus also. Sucks you have to mod the ring to get the mk1 to fit (if you can score one), I'm dealing with my mkII for now, but hopefully not for long.
I prefer long lens shots to fisheye, but ya gotta have the fish...it's the law.

You aren't gonna be getting a pro level camera unless you're up for shelling 2000 dollars out at least. If you've got that kinda money, you should be able to get something in the VX line up and a Death lens for probably 3k.
If you don't, get a Canon Optura 10 or 20 with a Baby Death lens.

Not true, you can get a used vx1k for about a thousand. You can get a death for about 700.. great setup for 1700.

it doesn't matter.. the point of filming is not to go pro.. its to have fun and just learn... and why do ppl have to be soooooooo one demensional? first off the canon optura10/20 is not that great of a camera,,, just becuase evryone uses it doesn tmean its good..i know ALOT of 1chips that kill the 10/20 with out flinching,,, anyone thats out there looking for a one chip... seriously. DO NOT go to canons first,, sony,jvc,panasonic, you wouldnt even belive how many other companys there are that have better one chips...

century lenses are 739 for the vx1k, 770 for the vx2_ks those prices are from adorama.com Ive had my camera for 3 years now and i bought a death for 669 6 months after i bought the camera. Fisheye shots are NOT overrated. Its just you dont know how to be creative and make the shots look amazing if you think they are overrated. The vx1k has a handle. I would slap you in the face honestly if i knew you and you said that. People assume they know about certian subjects when they dont know anything at all which sucks sorry to say. But! the vx700 does not have a handle and is around 400 dollars its 1ccd but is almost the exact same camera as the 1k. Minus handle and is only 1ccd. If you buy a vx1k you will need a light there is no exception, other then a genny and work lights.
