hey guys, sorry for another trucks thread, but i keep getting mixed info on this.

what the main pros and cons of low trucks vs regulars?

some people tell me they flip better and feel better, and some people tell me they feel worse and get less pop.

any opinions would be great :-)

theres no such thing as regular. theres low, mid, and high.

low is lower to the ground (obviously), and some people like that feeling (like me). the flip/pop is slightly faster.. flip is better cause all the weight is sucked in towards the middle a little more, so yeah. downside is wheelbite if you ride loose trucks or bigger wheels.

mids are for whatever

highs are best if you ride bigger wheels or looser trucks, or if you just want lots of kingpin clearance or something.

Alright, I'll help you out.
High trucks are usually used for vert skating. This is because when you skate vert, you usually use big wheels. Like 57mm and up. The high trucks will prevent from wheelbite for those big wheels. Also, high trucks will help with shock. For example, most pros go off huge stair sets with high trucks because it will help reduce the impact shock. Low trucks are usually used for street skating. Low trucks will make it easier for more tech skaters, skaters who do lots of flip tricks. In street skating, you usually use smaller wheels, like 54mm and lower. You wouldn't need high trucks if you had smaller wheels. It really is all personal preference. Try standing on a board with high trucks and then one with low trucks. Whatever you feel most comfortable on, skate from now on. Most likely, if you like or want to skate street, you'll pick the lows. If you want to skate vert, you'll probably want high trucks. There is no difference in "pop" with either trucks. You might think that with high trucks you will have more ground clearance from the ground so you'll have more "pop". It's not true. So just get whatever you want, hope I helped you out.

Yeah, I prefer lows as well. Highs feel weird. But I did heaps of street skating before our skate park was built, and higher trucks do serve better for vert and bigger wheels. I'm probably just repeating what was said up there so hey, get lows. Well...it's personal preference.

I skate lows only. Meds and Highs just feel really weird to me.

how bout you just buy Independent trucks, and be happy. they're in between low and tall, so fork it, you'll get used to them.

I have Ventures. They rock my tiny, self-centered little world.

yeah i think Venture Lows is what i'm goin' for. although i can't get them yet cuz i'm not allowing myself to get ANY new skate stuff (apart from shoes)until my kickflips are more prolific. why? i dunno, but it makes me push that little bit harder haha.

Or maybe buying new stuff will motivate you to go out and get 'em right? That's what happened with me when I first started skating. I bought a $300 setup and thought "Well I've just committed financial suicide on the bloody thing, so..."

yeah that makes sense too. but for me personally i like to kind of achieve something and then reward myself, so to speak.

similar logic though in both methods. different sides of the same coin :-)

Yea, I posted this thread like 3 months ago. Too bad nobody gives a shit that ive been on this forum for a year and a half.
If you're not sure which you want, stick with mids. Best of both worlds.
