So there's this plaza with 4 stairs (really small stairs), and having not skated for about a month, decided to try it without putting much thought into it. So yeah, I couldn't get them at all, made myself look like a dumbass in front of all those people, and sprained my ankle bad.

I've been skating since October of 05, but with school and all, haven't been consistent. Plus, there were times during the winter when I couldn't skate (not into vert/skate park) because of the cold. In any case, should I just quite skateboarding? I can't even get a 5 stair ollie, and although I can ollie pretty well flatground, I can't kickflip. I can ollie and almost tre-flip, and manual for like 10 seconds... I can't pop-shuv-it either.

Don't quit if you can't get something. Just try something else and then come back to it later.

It looks like you almost got it. You just need to stick it. It sucks you rolled your ankle too, it looks like you were a few tries away from landing it. Defineately don't quit. Everyone has a bad day...

Just keep skating man. Skating just takes time and dedication, and if you stick with it long enough, things will get better.

You've pretty much got it. Your technique is good. I think you're just bailing because you're expecting NOT to land it. You get mid-ollie and go "Okay, here's where I bail". Just commit to it, stick it down, and bend you knees when you land. Don't be afraid of getting hurt. Just. Stick. It.

yeah on the 2nd attempt it was fine, but you need to absorb the landing abit, not too much coz it is only a 4. but if you dont absorb it at al you just stop dead on the landing.
and to say youve been skating since october, youre doing really well, thats like 8 months?
after id been skating for 8 months i was about the same level, failing on 3's, 4's and 5's, then i just started comitting, and absorbing, now it's fine.

Dude don't talk like that. I've been skating since like May '05. It took me AGES just to learn how to ollie( I didn't skate the winter either though.) All I can do is Ollie a curb, pop shuvit, 50-50, manual, and I almost have kickflips (One-footed.) Don't say you suck because as you can see, there are people who are worse than you.

This is true, but it still looks awesome if you absorb it heaps. Even if like, on a two set. If you bend your knees heaps it just looks rad.

^^^ hitting a crack? wtf? I though it looked like he just wasn't sticking the landing. Also he was going fast enough because he did clear the set. And I would say he was trying because thats what that video is, him TRYING a 4 set.

It did look like he was hitting a crack (because of where he rolled his ankle), and he wasn't sticking or absorbing. And you don't suck. I've been skating off and on for four years, and all I can do is ollie a foot high, manual two seconds, and bleed alot.

LMFAO THAT WAS FUNNY no offence.
Ok you're bailing in midair, you don't know it though; but you are. Try just going straight off of it, just manualing off of it. Then pop it lightly, then ollie.
But yeah that was funny.
And next time take it like a man and don't let little kids see your moaning and swearing on the ground.
