Ok, here's my problem.
a. I can't hit my backfoot hard enough.
b. I can't slide my foot easily. I kick it hard, and it still doesn't go more than up to above the front wheels, and when I concentrate more on sliding, I usually jump before I finish popping the back
Basically, I'm doing horribly. I can make 2 inches sometimes in height, but I can't get any higher than that.
Sorry if there's already a post about this, I searched but couldn't find any.

Well when you are sliding bring your back foot up as high as you want it

Sounds like the same problems I have trying to ollie swich, but, when I sit and figure out what I do wrong, (you have already figured this out) I try to correct it one prblem at a time, practice, practice, practice.

Thank you very much, I hope that helps. I'll try it out as soon as I can bend my left ankle again.

Oh, I just tried it some more, but now I've got some new problems. I now can hit the tail and slide my foot well, but when I slide my foot, it pulls the board forward, but not upward. Am I not hitting the tail hard enough? The tail usually hits the ground, when it doesn't, it almost does. But I'm just pulling the board forward, not getting more than 2 inches of air, and that doesn't seem like much of an ollie, does it?

Should I just practice then, or am I doing something wrong if it's going forward instead of up?

I found www.piczo.com/how2ollie a good site for beginners but apart from that the main thing is practise and CHAGING YOU TECHNIQUE if its getting you no where.
