Okay I just got my own digital camera that takes movies too. The problem is, after I plug it in to my computer and everything uploads, the movies are Quicktime, so Windows Movie Maker won't edit them. Movie Maker will only edit videos that are in: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg,
.mpv2, .wm or .wmv format.

Bottom Line: Is there any way for me to edit Quicktime Videos in Windows Movie Maker?(I have Nero too if that would convert the Quicktime files to a supported format)

EDIT: I realized that Nero isn't exactly a format. So I looked at the info and this is what I found: http://i6.tinypic.com/14e3m9x.jpg
as you can see, it seems to be making the video files JPEG just becuase it came from my digital camera. But in WMM, it won't let me edit them as pictures or videos. So anyone know what to do?

The easiest thing would be to quit messing with WMM and just download a different video editing program. Sorry if thats not what you wanted to hear.

Eh. Well do you know of a program that will edit these kinds of files (from digital cameras), and where I can get it? Maybe Vegas from ......

That's exactly what I'd do.

Atleast cought the P2P parts. There is a bit in the rules about this thing...

Anyways, it seems that you needs to convert it. Convert it to .avi, it works.

Tell me if this works.

Yeah, I used to just convert to avi before I got Vegas. I'm the first non-magenta member to post in this thread.

try renaming the file something.mpg thats what i do with my digital camera files. they come out as .avi and when i try to watch an .avi in vegas or premiere pro its just sound but when i rename it to something.mpg it shows video and sound (i dont record skating with a digital camera i mess around with it).

Get Vegas. Basically, Windows Movie Maker SUCKS.

Vegas can edit basically any video format and covert basically into any format.

what are you capturing your clips with? or is that the problem? if not then capture it, then convert in into a valid file for movie maker, i would sugest getting a better editing program though, movie maker is very limited

Well I'm not really allowed to download anything, becuase it messes up my computer. But I do have Nero, so does anyone know if that'll convert the file types?

I renamed the file, but it didn't seem to do anything. Then again all I did was right click it and hit rename.

Weird mine uploads in WMV, I think when you upload it there might be an option for you to save it under the fiel type. Or you could just download a program the converts the file type into wmv. Oh and I use WMM as well I'm good with it. :)
edit: I'm not sure if this will work but if you can view it in Windows Media Player then just go to file and hit save as and it save as WMV.

does it let you capture the video on movie maker? if so, it gives you optons on what format you want to capture it in, maybe if you change it to avi, wmv etc it would work
