When I do them, the board kind of flies upward. (I can't land them by the way.) It's hard to describe. I think a different foot placement would help. Could someone post a pic of good varial kickflip foot placement?

I know that wont help much but meh.

Try moving your flipping foot more up the board,if its going vertically it could be because when your popping it you have to much weight on the back.

Don't try and pop the board like you do an ollie, just try and "scoop" like chocolak mentioned.

ya thats wat it was like for me wen i first started them u have to scoop it good, then wen u get them better u can get them down good with a scoop/pop thing so it gets higher and u can do it over things. once u figure out your technique they'll be as smooth as butta

then you kinda kick your foot off about where my board says nose and have it kinda curved off then with your back foot you kinda just pull into you and jump its pretty simple but if you have not learned a kflip yet learn them first

For the picture, put your front foot back a bit more.

pop38- You're not scooping it, and really exagerate the flick.
