depends how much you skate. Ive been skating for about 1 month and i can like axel stall, fakie ollie, manual, nose manual, ollie over 2 decks. shuv-it.
I can almost kickflip.
so yeah, I skate like all the time though, and soon ill have a mini ramp in the back yard so ill get even better at doing stalls and stuff.

Dont worry bout it man, its all about enjoying yourself. In my first year i was awful, i couldn't kickflip at all really, pop-shuv its were very rare, sketchy 180's. It all comes in time.

I started when I was 10 and I learned really fast, but then when I started the more advanced tricks, I was stuck for about a year. And adding on to what crazy dave said, this proves that all people learn at different rates.
So yes, you're doing decent.

i'm 13, and in september i'll be skating 6 years. my first 2 years were like ollies and shove its on my sidewalk and driveway, cause the kids that started skating considered me an annoying little kid so didn't want to skate with me. when i mastered basics on my own, i was accepted to skate with the "big kids." i then started learning some more, stuff on ramps/rails, and then i started filming with a crew of seperate friends, and i've been skating in town and skating sets for about like 2 years, maybe less. i'm not even going to name the stuff i can do, because i don't feel like it. kickflip, double flip, shove it revert, back crook, lipslide, i give up.

Since this is a autobio thread:
I'm 16. I've been skating for a little over a year. I can do every trick normal, nollie, and switch. Except maybe a couple. Ollie pretty much came insantly it was just a matter of how high over time. Kickflips took a couple days.

what if it takes you a while to learn like an ollie and it doesn't really come that naturally, does that mean ur bad?

You have the same problem as I did trying to learn kickflips.
can you land with one foot at all??
If you can, try JUST landing with your OTHER foot that you cant land it with.(try on the grass) Then once you can do this You are ready to put the two together.(on the grass)
Once I got a few on the grass I learned to do them on cement well rolling 6 times in a row 2nd day I learnt them. With a crappy canadian tire board. IT HAD PLASTIC TRUCKS!! just committ and you should be ok.

No Because I know someone who cant do anything BUT ollie after about 1 and a half and 180 really sketchy.... but he ollied a 5 first try.... :-12: SO if you learn them after a while I bet you will learn other tricks easy. Maybe kickflips will come fast to you. who knows.

Wow guys. I don't think dark haze intended for this thread to turn out being about who can do what for how long they've been skating. He doesn't want people to show him up.
dark, don't compare yourself to other people at all. You hold your own rate of progress; but it's really all about just trying new things. Don't be scared, because a big part of skateboarding is the fact that it's a mind game. You talk yourself out of things and won't do them. When I first started kickflipping ledges, my board hit me in the EYE. I was so put off kickflipping ledges for ages, but I got back into it because I was sick of being scared of it. Just don't be afraid to try new things, watch other skaters, and mimic their moves until you can develop your own style that you're comfortable with.
Good luck.

i worry too sometimes...i've been skating for 3 years and im 12, i'm mainly a street skater, i can kickflip, 180 and nollie 5, ollie 6, boardslide i some handrails ( not excactly considered handrails ), and do 5-0s, 50-50, axle stall, rockt to fakie and rock n' roll on ramps, but don't let that get you down. it took me 9 months + to learn kickflips. first year is always the worst, usually round the 2nd or 3rd year you suddenly get better. good luck getting better. don't stop trying if not die trying.

I cant land with 1 foot on for kickflips but i can for popshuvits..... oh yeh and it doesnt work on the grass for me coz it doesnt flip it just gets caught on the grass so i dunno.....

Later today, or tomorrow, i will try to get a videocam, so i can make a tutorial how to do a varial kickflip (180 flip?). I have been skating for less than two months now, and i can flip them perfectly smooth and land them with one foot. When i learn to tuck the backfoot up more, i will be able to land them with two foots.
The point is: after reading several kickflip guides and such, i just couldn't flip the board at all. It was so damn hard hard. So i tried to do it my own way, and that was really easy. Really, really easy. Or you can add me to msn: misterhamper@hotmail.com, then i can show you.

it all depends really on how much you skate,
like me i only skated for only 2 months now and i can do
Kick Flip
Viral Kick Flip (Both Can use some work at times)
Pop-Shuvit
Board Slide
BS Board Slide
Boneless 180,360
Ollie(still landing a little Weird)
180
And some Free Style tricks
But what you need to know is that i am skating like 6 hr's a day, and i got a few friends that could go pro, so they help me out here and there(Majority by myself)
just practice and download alot of skateboard movie clips as you can and reply them like your crazy so you understand how the trick works, so you can do it yourself

Judging by the way you've worded that, I would say that what you've done is lived in your comfort zone with ollies simply because you can do them and that makes you feel good. You've refrained from practising other tricks as much. This is an assumption and I could be wrong, but if I am not, STOP doing it.

Dont worry abput learining tricks straight away. The will eventually come plus by the time you have learned them you will have developed your own style from the previous year(s) of skating around and style is alot nowerdays.
