Crappy Vans

I'm new to skateboarding.

I bought a pair of Vans yesterday, cos most skaters speak highly of them.

The Vans have got a little ridge up the sides of that silvery material that shows up really well under bright light.

So, I went to a car park yesterday to practise Ollying and I was probably there about forty minutes or so.

Anyway, when I got back, I realised that the griptape had ripped this silvery stuff to shit. Now, I'm not bothered about shoes looking lived-in, and I didn't expect them to stay pristine for long, but they are SCREWED after about forty minutes! I'm guessing that when that silver stuff is totally worn off, the stitching will be the next thing to go, and the shoes will be useless.

And that's in just forty minutes! What did they think their shoes were going to be used for?

My shoes usualy last about a month or just over mate, i would jut skate them till they fall off your feet!

vans are pretty good if u get the good ones. i have the rowley xlts and theyre pretty good.

craig, i think u need to lay off other people's styles dude. im not trying to start anything but i got pretty mad when u said vans suck. thats like saying Elements suck. just get the right vans.

i bought a pair of vans and they lasted me about 3 monthes, and i skate 6hours aday, but mine were like 70 bucks, how much were yours?

i have had a pair of circas, dvs's, and now have a pair of vans which i all like alot and still skate each pair of them but i havent skated the vans to much yet cause i had to buy my shoes and i dont want them to me messed up yet when i can skate my others still...

ive had vans, globe and now i have osiris. the osiris are the best ive had.

i've had two pairs of vans, and they lasted me for a long time. yea, the decor was worn off, but the shoes held together for long enough

To answer some of your questions, the Vans were £55 (which is about $84 - but everything costs more in the UK). Osiris were at least £70 ($107), which is way too much to spend on shoes that are gonna get shagged.

Maybe I just bought the wrong ones. Cos I'm new to it, I didn't really think about which part of the shoes would get scuffed and worn. I did, at least, think that the makers would have had the sense to give that some sort of thought, and manufacture shoes accordingly. :rolleyes:

vans doesnt just make skate shoes, a lot of their shoes are, but they also make shoes just for wearing. maybe thats what you got. if you get another pair of vans, look at the grip, get some ones with the waffle/honeycomb grip, its the best :D

vans are quality shoes. vans are all ive skated with... ive had my shoes for like over a yeqar and theystill do me fine, but are kinda flat bottomed. got the dustin dollin swindles and they are damn good. next time if you goin for vans, i would suggest gettin a pro shoe.
