View Full Version : Feeding Off Someone Else's Energy

Does anyone else notice that when one person starts to rip it up, other people around tend to feed off that and start hitting shit, too? Like today, me and my two lifetime bros, Chris and Matt (some old members might remember Chris's old name here, globesk8er) were skating the ditch, our favorite local spot. It's this drainage ditch that is the most perfect mini-ramp halfpipe. Well, Chris starts goin' off, hitting f/s pivot footplants, f/s pivot judo grabs, and shove-it rock 180 outs. Matt suddenly hits a blunt 180 out, which he's never even tried before, and I hit blunt b/s pivot, blunt b/s axle stall, blunt b/s feeble, and blunt b/s smith. After all this, Chris up and hits a sweet-ass kickflip fakie higher then the cope.
Anyone else notice this phenomenon?

Happens all the time. I was skating with a much more experienced skater a while ago, at this ledge i never could even ollie off. He kickflipped it, his other friend ollied it, then i ollied it. All in a row. It was sick.

I have a friend better than I. He lands things before me, pisses me off. So no it doesn't work for me.

I always have a lot more of a 'want' to do things if i'm skating with friends. I kickflipped a big gap yestarday first go but otherwise, its usually about my 5th go. Just cause my buddies were there i guess.

I wasn't there... Awwww...
Yeah I get that sometimes but usually just a select few. See Dave is one of my best mates but he's actually one of the ones who doesnt pump me up to skate harder/better. I mean I can skate equally well with him there, er... I skate better with Mark, Dixon and Gaz. (Check the site in my sig to find out who they are)

I skate with this kid who should be AM, but he can't find a sponsor yet so sometimes when he just kills a spot it makes me feel a little bad. He keeps me encouraged though. Personally, I think I skate better when I'm just trying to impress someone a little.

that happens to me too. Also when some hot girl shows up at the skatepark I attempt stuff i never even thought of trying. Man, I need to stop doing that.

When I skate with Tiger Woods I can nollie lazerflip 18 stairs first try. But only if Michael Jordan does a 360 reverse Tomahawk dunk over my head during it.

yeah last week.this kid kickflip back board this rail on top of a fun box its sort of steep..like i never tried boardsliding anything on a big angle or anything..like a handrail..its like a foot and a half high and my friend just back boarded it first try and i was like dang i gotta do this..so i got on the rail and slid halfway and it flew out from under me..then next try i landed it...haha

Jeff does that to me all the time. Like we'll be skating the Kidney Pool in Glendale. Sick pool with a gnarley deathbox. He's always ripping berts over it and it gets me throwing tailslides over it. Then he'll say, "I think Laybacks are possible in here." he starts shredding 'em and it gets me going again. That's what's so cool about skating, a good sesh just gets everybody amped up.

Yeah, it's like a basketball team's winning streak.
