I know this isn't about skating and I apologize but I was wondering if any of you guys read much. I was talking to some of my classmates and was surprised by the fact that most of them have not read a book in well over a month. So I asked around my school and found that basically only 10% of my grade reads anything other than magazines or school related books regularely. Am I alone or do you find this a bit disheartening for the futur of or society.

p.s. I am not a nerd. (I think :-8: )

theres a general section at the top of the forums for general stuff like this.

nope, i don't read much. i just find it too boring. i can't explain it, but unless its in transworld then i really can't read for more than 5 minutes without falling asleep, books are more powerful than sleeping pills to me. really i don't even like sitting that much, i'm a pretty active person so that probably why i don't like reading. i'm in AP english tho.

I owe the school money bc my teacher forced us to get books and read em. I never read it and I left it in the locker room. It got wet and now I own 1 dollar before I can start school again.

I like reading. I don't read very often, but every few months I'll pick up a couple books.

And next Summer will be the best summer for reading - Harry Potter 7, woohoo!

I love reading. I love sci-fi stories.... Stephen King is the best. Darren Shan is a good writer too. Its the only thing that doesn't keep me from falling alseep in class (eve though it gets me into as much trouble as sleeping does.... but I take everything in..... I'm a living sponge). But yeah, you're not alone.... and you're not a nerd..... at least I don't think of it that way.... I think of reading like I think of photography & skating.... just another hobby.

I read. I used to do it all the time before i went to bed or if it was raining, but not as much now. I dont really have a favourite author though. I read all the Lord of the Rings books and The Wind Singer series.. I'm currently reading 'The Runaway Jury' by John Grisham. Last book i read before that was 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night' By Mark Haddon.

Harry Potter is good. You don't even read books, where do you get off saying it's not?

haunted by chuck paluhuniuk or whoever you spell his last name, is a book im reading right now, author of fight club if youve seen that movie, i just love his style of writing.
a book i read before was the "catcher in the rye" also a great book, written in the late 40s but it shows just how similar life was for a teen back then.
harry potter i liked when i was twelve, you outgrow that shit
i always liked treasure island for some reason, read it about 5 times a while ago, i cant really remember what other books ive read, by myself. I read clockwork orange at school and liked it a lot, there were some others but i cant remember their names.
I hate hamlet

I read sometimes. Eoin Colfer books are my favorite. NOT the Artemis Fowl stuff, but the Supernaturalist and The Wish List.

I totally hate reading. I would rather be watching TV or skating, but I do read books for school. But one thing that I noticed, is that after I stopped reading so much (about 6th grade is when I got tired of it), I started reading a whole lot slower in school, and it seemed like my mind just slowed down thinking. So I've been trying to read a little more in my spare time so I'm not a total retard. It kind of scares me...Anyone else feel like this?

Last book i read before that was 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night' By Mark Haddon.
I'm reading that now becuase it's on my "required summer reading list". I had a whole list to pick from, and that one looked best. Then I have to write some weird report thing on it. I just started it...is it any good?

I like Steven King, Dean Koontz, and Bentley Little books. Like the horror genre. I also like the Harry Potter books too. I don't read that much but those are the books I read when I feel like reading or when there's nothing else to do.

The last thing I read was the Declaration of Independence. Before that it was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

I'm also reading a lot of college textbooks, like on biology, history, math, etc. I also read every Transworld I get.
