Well,Ive been known by my friends to usually be the filmer of their stuff. My friend and his 2 other buds wanna start up a video and see where they can go with it.Show it to a local shop, you know.Well, heres the problem.
I have an Optimus MPEG 4 Digital Video Camera. When I bought it I thought it would actually work good.Wrong.It runs out of batteries in about 5 minutes no lie and the brightness is terrible. All I have is Windows Movie Maker. But,Im preety good at editing.I know mostly all the stuff about it.So Im wondering...
1.Should I wait until I get a new camera?If so,which one?
2.Should I use Windows MM or get something new immediatly?
Oh and if this is in the wrong section I apologize.

first of all, are you looking to show the shops a sponsor me video to get on the team or are you looking to produce a video for them to sell?
if its just a sponsor me tape then just shoot with your cam, it doesn't really matter.
but if your looking to get them to sell it then your deffinetly going to want to get a better camera. most shops aren't gonna just buy any vid some random dude throws together, they want it to sell. talk to them first about it and see what they have to say about it. your probably gonna need a somewhat professional cam, something like a sony handycam vx1000, 2000, or 2100 or a cannon gl1 or gl2. then on top of that your gonna need a decent fisheye lens like a death lense or century optics fisheye. the cam will run you somewhere between $800-3,500 and the fisheye will cost $200-1,500.
yes you will want something better than windows movie maker. for example: adobe premier or sony vegas. probably $60-700.
oh and don't forget your gonna need some kick ass skaters to film.

Try finding some re-chargable Sony batteries. My old digi cam used to rape any other type, but sony seem to last about 40 mins longer. Good luck!

If it is really bright you might have the exposure up way to high.

Yeah man go ahead. Get some better V.E. software and you're good to go.
But guys. Wait-you would need a dvd burner also if you wanted to put it on a disk rather than just upload it to the interenet right? Or is there some other way.
Ive got a samsung 6.0 mega pixel dig. cam and I use batteries expecailly for dig. cams that I can recharge and we've been filming for maybe 2 weeks and we're already sitting on maybe 3 to 4 minutes of good solid footy.
So it's up to you to make it happen.

I film with an DXG-506V MPEG4 and I love it. So I dont think you really need a new camera, but if you want one thats your choice.
and for editing. try sony vegas
and yes, you would need a DVD burner or you know someone who has one and would let you use it
