I see us skaters as a race and most people are racist towards us. We are not accepted anywhere. I got kicked out of Quiznos just because of the way I look and because I carry a skateboard around(I gave her a really hard lecture)... It's just as ****ed up when African Americans couldn't go inside some places. It pisses me off. I just wish that skateboarding would be accepted. We're not going away and we don't do anything wrong.

Even if there are some people who make us look bad, we're not all like that. Just because one person is a murderer doesn't mean we all are.

sometimes its cause some people just judge us all as one, or just cause some skaters just happen to be "punks" they consider us all punks, or same thing with potheads, and its not right. ik exactly what your saying it sux and i hate it.

Yes everyone does stereotype to an extent you are right about that.

But, there are some groups (like skaters) that receive more criticism and stereotypes than others, and that is not okay.

One day me and my bud went to Burger King to get some water. Normally, they give it out free, but that day the cashier says "I'm sorry, you can't get water unless you purchase a meal." So we left. About a week later I went back to the exact same Burger King, and there was a preppy girl standing in front of me. She asked for some water, and she got it for free.

People suck.

Its so fusrating, ok heres what i think\

say you skate at a business spot, they come out and yell at you, tell you to go away.

Then some football players come in and play football in the same spot.

Skate boarding and football are both sports. RASCISM!!!!

People dont realize the challenge to skate board and do it peacefully

Lets clear something up. Its not racism since skateboarders are not a race. Its discrimination. Also, whens the last time a football player waxed a ledge so he could play catch? Or whens the last time a football player grinded a marble ledge trying to tackle someone. You gotta look at it from their view too.

Shut the **** up and stop bitching. It isn't racism because we're not a race. To people skaters are drug users and punks and generally assholes. Most of the time they're right. I seriously doubt you got kicked out of quiznos because you were holding a skateboard. You probably provoked something. Stop acting all badass rebelion 'cool'. Because it isn't cool. And if businesses are so concerned, why can't they chip in to get a good skate park or plaza around here?

cause they have no reason to want to give us one. you could say but it would stop us using their shit, but they could just tell the police and not buy as one and they win both ways.

we cause alot of damage and shit so its understandable why it happens.

he said he got kicked out for just being in there with a board, not for skating there. no reason to kick him out. it wouldve have been more appropriate if he asked him to leave his board outside.

i agree a little bit with everyone. cops can be dicks, but not all of them are. sure they're just doing their job, but i've met cops that were nice enough to just ask me to leave or sometimes don't even care, and i've also met cops that kicked me off the property for just sitting around with a board.

everyone is gonna look at skaters differently, not much you can do about it.

i would kick a skater out of my store. he was probably skating outside before he went in, unless hes honestly gonna say he just walked to the place holding it. we have given our selfs this sterotypical name, its our fault. or rather a few peoples fault who have now got us all branded.

if you have a board on property you are likely to be or have been skating therefore they kick you off. completely understandable and something i would expect. therefore i run if needs be.

To tell you the truth, most of you on this forum are probably bigger assholes in real life than you think. I remember some kid posted like him ollieing over like a bottle, and a car came by so he got out of the road and then out of no where the kid flipped the car off? Is it really that big of a suprise that society hates us? We basicly vandalize people's property then give them a hard time when they ask us to leave. And sure most of the time it's completely unfair and bullshit but that's life. Life is always going to shit on you, no matter who you are. No matter if you're completely rich like Bill Gates, who is probably one of the geekiest people i've ever seen. Do you really think he's happy, when he goes to sleep at night? No shit there is definately something missing from his life. Look at most pro skaters though, they're humble, and just happy to be able to get paid to do the thing they love most in the world. To finish this little lecture off, if you're under 16 theres a bigger chance of being picked on by the police or by store owners or w/e. If you know what I's saying.

Shit, sorry for that boring ass lecture. I was just trying to prove a point here...

I kind of agree to both arguements, they do have the right to kick us off, but they do overreact a lot of the time and just be assholes. I don't have any problem with it because we skate around the main building of our town and no body really cares much because it's more of a hangout for the older teenagers during the day, but at night they all either do homework or go to the teencentre, so it's completely empty for us to skate. Plus the cops around here are pretty slack, except for one of em, he's just a major d*** but we don't even look his way, we just ignore him and let him pass by in the truck.

if people at an establishment are telling you to leave just because you have a skateboard in your hand, I wouldn't leave. I wouldn't get all confrontational or anything, and if they continued to bother me, I would calmly ask what I was doing wrong. Unless there's a sign that says "no skateboards allowed" posted on the window or door or something, then theres nothing that they can charge you with. If they call the cops, no biggie, because what are the cops going to do? They arrest people for doing something that's wrong/illegal. Oh and if the manager of the place says no loitering, and it happens to be a burger king or w/e, and you happen to have a few bucks with you, then just get a drink and sip really, really slowly, so that you can stay longer if you have to. Just keep cool, don't act like the stereotypical "angst bitch skateboarder" who "flicks off a car" for no good reason. Act like a smart person, not a smartass.

You know what people, stereotypes are there for a reason. (Just an example) If I saw a black person in my yard walking around with a screwdriver carefully studying my house, I highly doubt he was doing some random, free, home repairs. But I bet you if 100 black people happened to do that, 5 of them would actually be doing repairs. But because the other 95 weren't, I'm not going to believe the good five. If 100 white people did the same things, chances are the numbers would switch around, so they'd have a good reputation. If only one in a hundred-thousand Mexicans snuck across the border to the states, they wouldn't have the "illegal alien", stereotype they do. Just saying... *braces for multiple angry replies*

True that. Actually, a pretty good example.
