my parents support me because i'm doing something which doesn't involve them having to drive me everywhere and i pay for it myself.

my parents support me, but i'll try and help. maybe you could show them that everyone is different, and this is what you like to do, and show them that they dont even support their own son's interest, or if you have a brother doing sports you can say "why do you support him but not me" or whatever, try those.

My parents don't understand why I would do something that hurts me almost everytime I do it, and still enjoy it. But, they treat me as an adult and don't really give a shit.

I dunno, my parents don't really like it, and they want me to stop. But, they're not telling me I gotta stop, but whenever I get messed up, they're always freaking out. But, I can deal with it, it's all good.

My parents ALWAYS do that! If I tell them something that has to do with skateboarding they just tell me off and tell me that I'm too into skateboarding and that I need to think more about school. I just tell them that they're too into school and they need to think more about skateboarding and we'd work out just fine. It works for me, the subject always comes up again, but it works temporarily.
Good Luck with it anyways.

My mom and dad get pissed off everytime I need a new pair of shoes.
They're just like "WHAT? ANOTHER PAIR? IT'S ONLY BEEN 2 MONTHS."
Then they're like, "See these? I've worn these shoes everyday for 2 years, and I take care of them."
They're really ignorant of the fact that griptape exists.

Ya my parents get pissed when i say I need a new deck. On the other hand I got my first encounter with the cops wich is pretty cool cause me and my friend were skating a 8 stair at a church so the church guy called the cops and so we were getting stalked my about 5 cops but they never caught us cause we hid out a target and then the dollar store. And went to walmart and got 25 cent soda!

i dont' know whether they like it or not, but they've always supported me in it. they know its something that i really love and they think its better than sitting around inside. whenever i would ask for a deck or something like that my mom would just say oh well, you dont' play any other team sports so we don't have to pay for new ice skates or football pads. plus they like the fact that i'm now sponsored, i/they don't have to pay for decks anymore so thats cool.
just tell your parents how much you really like it and say they should be happy for you. and really its not that much more dangerous than other sports, maybe a lot of cuts and bruises but there have been surveys showing that hockey is the most dangerous sport with having like 14 out of every 100 sports injuries, then it was soccer i think with like every 11/100, football was 3rd with 9/100 and skateboarding was actually around 14th or something with every 0.3/100, it was even beat out by fishing which came in at #9 i think. this was out of every 100 sports injuries that required medical attention. i don't remember the exact stats because i read the artical a while ago but those are pretty close.
do they tell you that you should spend your time doing something more creative
what?!?!? skateboarding is all about being creative, its whatever you can think up to do on a board, then you go try it. its deffinetly a lot more creative than throwing a ball through a hoop.

My parents are strongly against skateboarding. They tried to ban skateboarding in our town once. They told me when I am 18 that I "am" going to quit skateboarding. I told them " I'll keep doing it as long as I want!" So I moved in at a friend's house and we skate from sunrise to sunset.

Dude, back in the day, skating was a very creative sport. Now that practically all variations of the ollie and other tricks have been invented, it's just a matter of learning these tricks. But skating's still creative, I bet any skater that could grind could look at a rail and imagine themselve grinding on it, or any other possible rails. Ya, my parent's don't care.

My dad used to be a cop and is a retired military. And my mom does along the same lines of my dad. So ya. When I got my first skate shoes my dad said "oh sh## my son is a skateboarder". So I got it bad. And I would break decks easily because I was learning and skating hard. Cha ching. And I've racked up the emergency room bills. One that got over 1000 dollars. So ya you can say my parents bug the crap out of me with you should concentrate on football ot baseball { I play for my school) and junk like that but they still buy the stuff so I don't really care.

Dad yes, mom no.
I sware, my mom had to pick me up one day at this skatepark camp and I was going off a kickbox that couldn't be more than three feet high and she was on the other side of the gate saying, "Aaah! Chris, don't go so fast you may kill yourself! it is time to go!" -.-
My dad wants me to go to the skatepark more often cause...I'm not very athletic at all. It is good exercise for me.
