everyone here likes thunders, especially spenser. however, i dont. the kingpin is set low, both good and bad. good- no hangups. bad- it's hard to get the kingpin bolt back on if you take them apart to change bushings or something.

theyre really nice. my favorite.
the one problem some of them seem to have (on the highs) is what he said.. their pin is low, so no hangups, but the way the pin is angled and set up with the hanger.. makes it kinda hard to get a tool in there, unless its skinny. but wrenches from the side work.
and before you judge the bushings, break them in a little. broken in thunder bushings are my favorite.

actually, i dont have a tool. i use wrenches. i used a wrench to try and but the trucks back together, and it just didnt work. idk, it's possible i'll try another pair of thunders.

hmm.... I'd recommend Independent Trucks, but if you're getting them for a cheap price, then you're getting what you paid for. the bushings are 'aight' after a few weeks too. I always thought they were shit, but it aint thunders that are shit; its just that I never tried anything but Independent Trucks, and they were superior.... (imo)

145 = 7.625" wide
147 = 8" wide

thanks. i was thinking about getting krux instead. downlow 3.5's. but should i use thunder 145's with a 7.5? would anything break? cause it doesnt really seem like a huge difference in width. with 7.625 being only about an inch and 1/4 bigger.

i love my downlows. they are great. i'd definantly recommend them. the kingpin obviously doesnt stick out, like with thunders, the bolt sticks out, not the pin, so you have to grind down the bolt. definantly go with krux out of the two, but overall i'd recommend my favorite, venture.

wait, what? an inch and a fourth? 7.625 is an eighth of an inch bigger than 7.5. thats nothing. and why would anything break?

here, this is my infamous thunder/kingpin problem.
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g53/Dookie56/I3010004.jpg
no matter how far i push the bushings down, the top one just comes right up, making it impossible to put the kingpin bolt on. and that is without the other black thing on top of the top bushing that i dont know the name of.
EDIT: i just posted that to show my problem. one of the kingpins is really stripped, due to stress and anger, and i just dont use the one in the picture.

sorry spenser, i are not smart at math. and i heard some think about the axles getting messed up. im leaning towards krux right now. im just gonna be grinding a little, practicing ollies, kickflips, etc. thanks.

oh yeah, and another thing that i never really talked about with my thunders, that on the first day one of the axels was stripped.
i'd deff go with krux skatesushi. downlows or the regular ones, the kingpin doesnt stick out.

the only time i broke something other than kingpins, thats what happened. the whole ring thing broke off. it still worked, but the bushing was kinda pressed weird. of course i stopped skating them though, and got new trucks.

Dave, it looks like the kingpin was too tight in the first place.... unless they're mids, in which case, I should just shut the hell up. for the guy who wanted krux, DONT GET THEM. they're a cheapy truck with a hole drilled into them for advertising purposes (take a rough guess as to how much the advertisers were paid to come up with such a thing, you'll never guess) buy thunders or Independent

Haha to tell you the truth, i sorta ran out of kingpins. I skate with pretty loose trucks and i kept snapping kingpins. I think it was 5 in a month! Im not kiddin! I think that the only one left was off a hudson from my mate (English wallmart). Thats probably what did it. I think it was at slightly the wrong angle.
Oh and i dont know why, but my bushings always do that.

trance, i am clueless to why you are completely negative towards krux trucks. they are great trucks, and at the moment i'm loving downlows, although, i am hoping to get either venture, or indys for my next board.

I don't like my krux as much as my thunders. Don't get me wrong though krux are good, but thunders are sweet.

I just got krux down lows today and I love them. My old trucks were thunders and I didn't really like them. I think it's personal preference. The krux are great though, even when you tighten them you can turn smoothy.

mate, I know the guy who designed them, and he shoewd me all the design flaws, and how shittyly made they are, and their whole range of advertising techniques. since this aint the place to go into their advertising techniques (which are f*cking whippy) I'll tell you this in 50 words or less; Independent Trucks was designed to be the best. there were 2 other main Truck companies out before Independent Trucks hit the market, and they both sucked. Independent was designed to be good for skaters, and they are. krux was designed to sell. the holes aint to reduce weight; its purely an advertising technique, used to attract costomers. it'll take like, 1000 words to explain exactly how, so I'll say this much; 75% of people who bought krux wouldnt even have given them a second look if it wasnt for
1. the holes, and
2. the sh*tty colourways that they come up with.

i suppose i'll take your word for it, because i can't hide the fact that the trucks look pretty cool with that hole, and the colors are pretty cool, but i can't exactly agree with someone across the globe i've never met in my life that says the designer told him all the flaws about the trucks. however, with my downlows, it looks like they grinded down so much, like, i think the truck is weak or something because it grinded down so much, and these trucks have only been used for about like 6 months.

did u check and see if the kingpin slid "in" ? that happened to me once, i took the truck off, and noticed that on the inside the kingpin came out like 1 in from the back, thats y i couldnt fit the bushings in. so just make sure the kingpin on the inside is all the way in.

apparently it hasn't gone through your head that the truck is not on a board, so i would obviously notice if that was happening.
