today i went down town to this skateshop in atlanta called sole monki. i talked to the guy about sponsoring and all dat type of stuff and he tells me that there are about 4 slots open on da team and he's already considering these 3 other guys. but he invites me to this lil demo thing the shops having at dis skate park. and he said he might put me on afer he see's how good i am and how i work wit the team(seeing as though i didn't have a video to show him). so anyway i go home realy stoked and decide to go practice...and i could'nt land a thing! i think mabey it was cause i was excited or somthin but i'm jus afraid that i'll get infront of him and the crowd and not be able to land a thing and jus flat out choke!! any tips to keeps my cool and focus infront of crowds and important people?!!!!

I wouldn't get my hopes up. For ****s sake, if you can't land a trick when you are stoked, you aren't going to get sponsored. Anyways, you probaly wouldn't going to get anything but a small flow, especially if it is only a small skate.
I hate to say it, but the chances are slim to none.
Anyways, what tricks were you trying?

i was thinkin startin off small ya know manuals, 180's, kick flips, pop shuvit. then move up to some varial heelflips, BS flips stuff like dat. then take some of dat stuff into rails and down some stairs.

Land a BS flip off a 6 set. That might get his attention.

i have the same exact problem. But do some really big flip tricks with pivots and all that. That what i did before but all i ever got from a stupid shop was some trucks, some bearings and then some zumiez blank that broke the same day.
shop sponsors are cool thats if the shop really actually likes you on the team all the time.

Shred the rails, a lot of shops like it if you have nice rail skills.

I say stop caring about the sponsorship and just skate. You'd probably skate better.

Thats weird since the only time I land my best stuff first try is in front of people or under preasure. Just give it what you got and try your best. Skate smoothly and act like you know what your doing

just be chill, skate and have fun. if you don't make it then oh well, its not the end of the world. if he likes your stuff then you'll be on the team, if not then theres nothing else you can do. try to land your tricks clean and at a decent speed. be an all-around skater, skate the rails, manny pads, gaps, ledges and everything else. be creative with your tricks, try stuff others aren't. try to have a smooth and flowing style and link together tricks that look good together and hit obstacles in lines. good luck and don't get too down on yourself if you don't make it, there will always be more chances to get on teams.

it really depends on what kind of shop it is...if its a gay shop/franchise like zumiez...dont even try but if its a sick shop thats owned/run by actual skaters and what not go for it and try your best.

you'd "progress" to varials in the demo? dude I would randomally pop out a varial after trying a stair set or grind or something, It's something you learn in like half a year if your decent and I couldn't get sponsored for another year or two.
