First things first, you want preformace and not looks. So do not buy things judging by their color.

For deck, check the stickied Deck review thread.

For trucks, get either Independent(Indy), Krux, Venture, Thunder or Tracker. There is much more other choices but stick to these five if possible.

Bearings, get Rock'n Ron's Rocket's if possible. If not Bones Reds will do you just fine.

Wheels, stick to Skateones wheels like Bones, Mini Logo, Powell and others. Their wheels last long and have a very lively feel. Autobahn is ok, but I don't know much on other brands because I have only like Mini Logos so far.

Risers, get some soft ones if possible. It really lessens the after skating ache if ya get what I mean...

Bolts, any will do. But if you can, support your local skateshop as much as you can if you have one nearby.

Oh yeah, what wish to skate? Street, curbs, stairs, handrails, gaps, ledges?
Or Park, pool, bowl, transition, quarter pipes, spines, vert pipe, half pipe?
