Back in my day, there were two types of grip tape the we used: Fly Paper (Aka "mac-tac") and 3M.

Today, neither of these are to be found. What's the skinny on tape these days? I'm talking BLACK griptape that doesn't turn to peanut butter after a couple of sessions on the local park's 1/2 pipe.

TIA

Thanks vansokc and the others who chimed in.

New special order deck is arriving at the shop tomorrow, and I know he doesn't have Fly Paper... But a good source of info is from the folks here who currently get out there and skate. There's nothing worse than wheels with flat spots, and bunk grip tape.

Yes, they've been around for moons. Back in the day, long before Black Label, Madrid's John Lucero deck was one of the coolest sticks going: functional shape, cool graphics and very functional overall for vert dogs and street thrashers, alike.

I picked up my special order deck today and the shop had Jessup for the larger more "classic" deck variety. I agree, as it's not Fly Paper, but it seems like a good grip tape all the same.

Good skatin' to ya.

everyone is saying how great jessup is..i think its the worst grip ive ever had on my decks..its peeeling like crazyy...and the grip seems to just not be grippy after a day or two ..all grip eventually gets liek that but not that fast...
after this deck im sticking to black magic or mob.
