do abec ratings really mean anything
like i went to the shop and the guy was like
dont worry about abec ratings
and all the bearings are the same
he says companies use it to get money off of you..

is this true?

definitely not all bearings are the same, but the abec rating isnt a big deal.

contrary to popular belief, its not a rating of speed. its precision. the higher the abec, the more precise the bearing. however, it doesnt really matter until you get into rocket science.. which is far beyond skateboarding.

there are amazing bearings that are abec 3, and shitty ones that are abec 7. it mostly depends on the actual company making them.

I had those exact bearings before, there descent but my speed demons abec 5's I have now are 3 times better.

thats one of those things i wouldnt recommend (panther 7s). if you want a better bearing for probably half the price, you could get fkd abec 3s. see what im saying? those are for sure better, and the abec is 4 less.

if you want 7s, get flip hkd 7s. probably the best bearings ive ridden as of yet. i havent had swiss or ceramics though, but for "regular" bearings they are amazing. and not expensive. they should be at most a little over 20$.
