When are you officially pro?

As the question states, Who says you are pro, and who says you are ameteur (sp?)

When you get paid cash money, then your a pro. If your just getting gear and swag, your a sponsored skater.

No like, when can you go in the pro section of a comp? Is it up to your sponsor or the runners of the competition?

it's up to the sponsor i'm pretty sure. i read in some tony hawk biography that when he first turned pro, he entered a conest while he was am, and his sponsor asked if he wants to take it to the next level or something, and they signed him up as a pro, leading to his pro sponsorship. although, at the time, none of his decks sold, until suddenly, he got what?, a quarter in the mail because 1 person bought his board.
