theres no set height, but you need to get high enough for the board to flip around. chances are that you're just kicking the board down instead of getting a smooth flick off the nose. it takes awhile to get your foot to do that flicking motion, just keep practicing.

edward is right, your probaly kicking the board down instead of out. Slide your foot off of your nose. When i was first learning, i slide it down where the bolts were. That didn't end well.

And in the first vid it shows a good point that when he kickflips when he is stationary it looks a little janky, but when he does it rolling it looks pretty tight.....iI had trouble getting the necessary pop at first until I was able to do them rolling

im sure u have enough room to flip your board. u dont need that much
however when u attempt ur kickflip try lifting ur kness up as hi up to ur chest as possible and give ur board enough time to flip. it can also depend on how hard ur flicking your board. to soft of a flick may result in a longer time for it to flip. try messing around with the amount of force u use to flick it to make it flip faster or slower if needed

as for your second question, im goffy stanced so i place my right foot angled a bit to the right and rite beneath the bolts. with the tip of my foot no more then half way across the first set of bolts, pop the board push ur foot up and flick of the top side of the board, theres my two cents... good luck

In my opinion, you shouldn't be learning kickflips yet. I think you should work on your ollies until you can ollie 2-3 decks. It will help you out a lot in the long run. After the ollies, I think you should learn pop shove-its and then 180s before kickflips. But, it's all up to you.

^ i disagree. 2-3 decks take a while to get that high. plus practicing ollies all day can get boring. spice it up, try new stuff, its not like you can only work on one thing at a time. experiment with all sorts of tricks, shoves, 180s, kickflips, heelflips, and i would say especially start working on switch ollies. there'll be some tricks you like more than others so just work on those more. its really all about having fun, so do just that, have fun and work on whatever you want.
