Hey everyone! I just bought my first skateboard today. It's a blank from a local skate shop, 8" wide, 52 wheels, abec 5's, and core trucks.

My situation is kinda weird though, I've gotta keep my skating undercover because my parents don't want me to....:(

Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and see what you guys had to say.

Hey man, why are you skating undercover? Come on man, I am sure there is a way that you can get your parents to accept skateboarding. Just have a rational one-on-one with them, things will work out. Anyways, keep learning.

If you tell them about sk8ing now, you won't get into much trouble when they find out....

Or are your parents overprotective.....?

You'll still have to tell them sooner or later though.

^^^Yea, they're reeeeealy overprotective. It's better if I keep it on the DL untill I get into college. (I'm a senior in hs)

I wouldn't hide it. When my parents told me to not skate, I still did and after a while, they didn't care.

Welcome To R R And Keep Posting. You Might Want To Persuade Your Parents To Let You Skate Using The Either Drugs Or Skate Idea; It Worked For Me. Btw Sorry The Words Are All Capitalized, My Phone Does That Automatically :-\

Well I understand where they're coming from though. They want to protect me from hurting myself, which is cool and all, there are plenty of parents out there that don't give a d*** about their kids.

I've decided that I am gonna keep it undercover though. My parents won't care so much when I'm in college.

...on the topic of staying safe- it is not a good idea to try skitching on your friend's car, up a hill, at night, on the same day you buy your first board...
...yea...road rash is a bish.

All you have to do to stay safe is know your boundaries of what you can and can't do.
