Man, I wouldn't call them metal, not at all...You want metal, check into Lair of the Minotaur, or Aman Amarth, or any of the Viking Metal bands. If you're into it, check out Zyklon, they're pretty tight..But Slipknot is not really metal. =\

Slipknot is horrible, and not because I'm against screaming. They're just not good. There's so much better metal out there. And when I say "better metal," I don't mean shitty scene "metal". Check out, like, Bathory, Craft, or Impaled for black metal; Napalm Death, D.R.I. or Municipal Waste for crossover; Nasum, Phobia, or F*ck... I'm Dead for grindcore; and Underoath's first two albums (Cries of the Past and Acts of Depression), The Bled's Pass the Flask, or As I Lay Dying's Frail Worlds Collapse for metalcore.

I love them. I even started learning some of their songs.

As for what you said about scene metal. I completely understand what you mean. There are so many of those bands that are scene and shitty but not all are. Many bands that are considered scene and popular now weren't always like that. As bands grow in fans the more they seem to be labled sellouts and what not.

As for slipknot. I liked them alot when I first got into metal. Most people would consider them nu metal. Check out the first two albums (Slipknot & Iowa) because volume 3 just plain sucks. I go through phases in music like all people so sometimes I like them sometimes I don't.


For all bands to each his own I guess.

I still like some of t here songs, but listening to them over and over gain, gets kinda old. Lately its been Mudvayne and Disturbed. Theyre sick! I just recently got into mudvayne, theyre awesome. Dude, was every drummer in the world in that particular competition? Something like that is biased, leaving amazing drummers out because they're in underground bands. I can guarantee you that drummers like Jon Karel, Jay Wynne and Ben Koller weren't competing, but that doesn't mean they aren't better drummers. Both Jeff Porter and Carl McGinley are fantastic drummers individually, but what makes them both so much better is that they are in the same band, playing in tandem and creating whole new levels of modern percussion that no one has ever done before.

ehh, slipknot is alright. they are onew of the few new metal bands i actually like. and btw guys, neil peart from rush is the best drummer. <<period is supposed to point out that this is the end of argument. new metal thats good is COB. and some avenged sevenfold and lamb of god. but im a big fan of any of them except COB. good metal is older kinds like motley crue and poison.
