I bought a new skateboard and when i brought it home and spun the wheel they were really slow and made a noise that sounded like the bearing was hitting something.. is this normal for new bearings??

What bearings or board did you buy?

I think they just may need breaking in. Just ride around for a few minutes and then see how fast they spin. If they're still going slow ride round an hour or so more. If they are still slow after this then I suggest you either lubricate them with Speed Cream or buy some Reds or FKDs.

maybe you tightened the wheel bolt too much?

i loosened it a little and it still makes a wierd noise after half a rotation of the wheels then its quiet for the second half...and then the sound again and yeeea..

Either send it back or just ignore it and maybe it'll go away. Maybe your bearings just need to be broken in.

The bearing might be crooked and not spinning right.

take ur wheels off and push em down and make sure the bearings are in right and not crooked at all. push em on ur truck ...both sides. and when u put em back on... tighten em just enough so you can move the wheel back and forth on the truck just a little bit. so u hear a clicking noise kind of. u dont want ur wheels on really tight or they wont turn right.

Also remember, how fast it goes when you ride it is what counts, not how fast it goes when you spin it with your hand.

thats true its not when it spins in your hand. its when you skate it.

my friend bought some bearings before the guy said get a spin out of they they spun good. when my friend skated them good talk about working yoru leg muscles pushing to actually get enough speed.

I'd just take them to the shop you brought them from or ask in a local skate shop. THey should be friendly enough to tell you whats wrong with them.
