axle threads

is there any way to rethread your axles without a special skate tool? I just put in new bearings and there's only one thread that's damaged. My skateshop is like 40 minutes away plus i couldn't get a ride today anyway.

Um I know that this probably is a bad thing in the long run, but when i put new bearings in I couldn't get one of the nuts back on so i put it on backwards and it went one fine.About a week later I took that one off and put it one the correct way and it worked fine. Perhaps I just got lucky.

just use a hammer and smack the axle bolt down past where there are no threads, and then tighten the truck, and hope you wont need new wheels on those trucks any time soon.
