Have any of you guys ever heard the song in da gadda da vidda by iron butterfly? Well nas made a new song called hip hop is dead. He stole the guitar riff from the classic 60s song and used it as his own. Kind of like how lil jon used crazy train. This is really making me mad that hip hop is now resorting to taking classic rock songs and using them as their own. Then all of the rap kids are like wow this a sweet beat. Then i say something like ya they stole it from this classic rock group. What do you guys think about this? I think that this is really upsetting.

The grey album is one of the most amazing albums in the world and that uses Jay Z and the Beatles. It isn't stealing they'll have asked to use it.

If oyu can't appreciate music other than "rock" your very very closeminded.

This is an amazing song in my opinion.

I find it ironic you've made a post about a good artist saying how you don't like him because he used a song yet you made this post about 50 cent (http://www.ramprage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20959) saying how great he is. There is an appalling rapper, Nas is great as is this song.

It's not stealing.. They have to pay large sums of money to use those songs.

I was at this local hip hop show, (forgot the name of the group =/) and they used the "One pill makes you larger... and one pill makes you small" tune from Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit. To tell you the truth it just got me even more stoked on the song.

almost all hip hop songs have this. its called a "sample". listen to any kanye west song and you are pretty much guaranteed to hear a sample. thats what makes hip hop good. they take a song and put their own twist on it. if you noticed, not many rock songs have remixes. so hip hop does it for them.

...if you noticed, not many rock songs have remixes...
So not true. All depends on what genre of rock you are listening to. Mainstream: yes, but others, no.

Here's a couple that remix:
Bloc Party
Mogwai
Nine Inch Nails
The Faint
