i basically got the flipping part of the kickflip, and i always catch it too early and i land on the underside of the skateboard, but i read how ur supposed to suck up your knees and let the board flip beneath u, my problem is that wen i pop and try to bring my knees up, the board comes up wit me and always seems to hit my shin or foot or something while its flipping and i cant get my front foot on after that, thanks

It sounds like your popping it too much. Try popping a little less and jump.

Question.

Should I jump high then flick it at the peak of my jump? Or should I flick it in mid-jump then try and bring my legs up?

mid jump, cuz if you do it at the "peak" your board wont have enough time to spin, so when your midair the board should be half-way to three-quarters way done spinning

Pop harder and flip slower. If your still not catching them do them sorta like a boned ollie, but...less boned. I'm not sure how to explain it. Putting your front foot closer to the middle of the concave when you pop will help you catch too. Don't flip faster, just get higher.
