Hey im new to skateboarding, i used a walmart board untill i could ollie. Then I got a flip board. How long do you think it takes the average person to become a decent skateboarder? Also how often do you land on ur nuts when u wipe out while grinding lol thats the only thing that scares me :0.

i reckon rob that it will take you roughly 5 years to get really good and probably 3 three years to nail you tricks pretty well. it was good that you used a wallmart board first and didn't go for the proper boards straight away. my mate bought a proper board and then gave up 2 weeks later so now hes got a board sitting in his wardrobe just doing nothing.

It all depends how much dedication you put in it. As China said though, there is no time limit.

I couldn't agree with you more. My friend Trent has been skating for 2 years and can his best trick is a shuv-it. My friend Marcus has also been skating 2 years and he could do a Tre-Flip.

Depends on how dedicated you really are to this sport. I landed my first "clean" pop shuv-it about.... 4 days ago, and I have 1 3/4 months skating. (Will be two month anniversary I guess you could call it, on the 27th)

Don't even worry about getting good, just have fun, practice, and love the sport and the tricks will come in naturally. :D

When I first started to notice that I didn't suck was at about 6 months. If you practice every day or close to it, you should be at a level where you can go and skate other parks without feeling awkward by about 5-8 months of skating.

that guy who i was talking about earlier he should have been practicing about 6 months now and should be something like, but he gave up and can't even ollie.

to become a desent skate it realy depends on how much you practice and how dedicated you are to it. how ofton you bail is realy up to you and if you try harder things or not, but hey "no guts to glory" or "no pain no gain"

I disagree...I just got a Kryptonics just this past easter and it's already getting ripped to shreds. My friends think I'm just too hard on my skateboards, which is probably true. *shrug* I still like Kryptonics boards though.

It takes 15 years if you practice everday for a MINIMUM of 16 hours a day.

It really depends, i was quick at learning, ollie first day, kickflip first week. heelflip 3 weeks. now i learn new tricks now and again but not as i did.

just keep at it, and if you really want to learn a trick, be persistant, dont give up

its different for everyone, this july i'll be skating for one year(with like a 2-3 month hiatus inbetween), and so far all i can do is ollie and pop-shuvit(very ugly ones) but i skate cause i love it and not to show off and that crap. Take it easy starting out, it took me 3 months to be able to ollie, while it takes some people a day, and others a year.

It depends on how much time, practice and commitment you put into your skating.

Wow. I thought I was the only one who couldnt ollie [ GOOD ] after about 1 month of skating. Or 2..I lost count lol

I can sorta ollie, but not that clean or high. Maybe 3-4 inches at best?

If your naturally awesome about a day. If not it differs from person to person, maybe 2 years maybe 10.

please, if your going to lie about me, don't say a shitty trick like that. it was more of a 360 tripple impossible UP a 15 set.

First you must ask the ancient skate ancestors to give you great knowledge.
Then you must perfom a treflip nose manual nollie tre pivot manual inward heelflip out.
You must then go frontside 1080 bigflip wallenburg.
By doing this you will receive great wisdom in the skating ways.

Like everyone else says, it differs from person to person. I think I suck even though people at school think I'm a good skater. I can ollie, shuv/pop shuv it, kickflip (inconsistantly), and do some boneless stuff. I have been skating for 8 about 8 months. I haven't been skating that much now because of school work, rain, lazyness, and other stuff. Be persistant with skating or else you wont progress.
