I have this little curb near my house, in an Elementary school parking lot. It's about 1 1/2 inches high and I can't Ollie up nor down it. When I an Ollie regular I can most definitely Ollie over 1 1/2 inches, maybe 6 or 7 stationary, 3 or 4 in motion, but no matter how small the curb is, I can't get it down. The only things I can Ollie are the white/yellow lines that mark the parking boundaries in a parking lot.

My problem is that when I Ollie with the board I don't go with it, I just pop it it and stay back you know? Whilst Ollieing down a curb, I just can't jump with the board neither, it's so frustrating because I know I can do it.

Any advice please?

this is just about mentality and commitment, I think the only way to solve this is keep trying, because you can do it its just different for your mind to let you jump a curb than a line.

I'm actualy at the exact spot as you, where I can ollie lines in parking lots fine but then I cant land when ollieing over a board :/

good luck with this

just picture yourself going up it and jump forward a little.

When u pop your board up, u jump up and slide your front foot to the nose to level out the board. Also, you may not be going fast enough because I only been skating for 3 weeks and I did it on my first try while going fast but then i went slow and it didn't work. You could be ollieing either to late or to early.

I had the same problem.

All my friends were doing it, and I couldn't so i gotfrusterated.

I just kept trying, trying, and trying. That's all you can do.

Sometimes I just ollied when I was moving and imagined that a curb was there lol :P

POP HARD AND SUCK THEM KNEES UP.

i was telling the kids at the skatepark this, and it seemed to help them.

as for olling down, a lot of kids seem to not commit to the inital pop, so really focus on poping the board hard, and commit.

I took a while of the forums and skated 4-5 hours a day since. I can now only up curbs and over speed bumps, haven't tried Ollieing down curbs though, it looks really scary! Lol.

ollieing down curbs is easier and more fun. you barely have to ollie so just give it a little pop and try it

i found that ollieing lines and cracks on the ground helped me out on those ollies.

just ollie, and stay over your board.

simple as that.

Well, ollieing down it is just commitment. If you can ollie, then you should be able to ollie down a curb. Just make sure you ollie and stay over the board. Just get yourself comfortable enough, so you aren't scared of it. If you are scared to ollie down it, just manual down it at first. just push and ride down the curb. After you get comfortable doing that ollie and you should be able to do it.

Ollieing up it is a different story. You have to now that you have a high enough ollie, first of all. Then you also have to commit to it. Just pop slide and bring your back foot to your chest. Pretend you are ollieing over something instead of ollieing up something. Hope this helps! http://www.ramprage.com/forums/images/smilies/41.gif

That isn't even funny you dickhead. I don't even care if it was sarcasm, you should always try to encourage. If it is something that ticks you off, just say the facts and be blunt, but don't compare me to you and try to look all good.

BTW, I used to be able to Ollie up curbs 2/10 times, but I decided F*ck this sh*t and I just did it. I can also Ollie down curbs, over things now too. I learned how to Heelflip too! Proud of myself.

It helps if you look at the place you're trying to onto rather than the board. Also, try doing it with friends.

Ummm. I already learned to Ollie up/down curbs and over speed bumps and little things consistently. But this thread is a great help for others willing to learn as I did.

I want to thank all of you for your advice, and for those of you just starting to try and do these things. I say Ollie down first. It's easy. Just Ollie going decent speed and expect a 5 inch drop, which is no big deal. I like to bend my knees alot when I land and make it look like a big fall to look cool. :D:D:D
