keep ur weight on ur backfoot. is u feel like ur going down lean back alittle. if u feel ur going to fall back lean forward. always keep ur fornt foot stiff so ur weight is always there.

Wave your arms around. I find that works most of the time.

dont lean back at all. just put pressure on the back foot.

and practice.
Manualing is a skill, not a trick.

Also, try doing them while moving. Down a small hill is good too.

That much is a no-brainer, what I do is keep my balance with your arms, and also, I put pressure on my back foot and lean forward a tad bit to even out the weight. I suck though so I don't even know if that is acceptable advice. :D

Lol,dont ever keep your front foot stiff...never...If you wanna do it long you gotta use both your feet and keep the board centered under YOU...not trying to keep yourself centered...its that simple...your board is the one with the wheels...make IT move with your feet...not the other way around...

I find it 10000000x harder to manual stationary. You should try it moving. If you've ever watched Daewon Song manual, you'll notice, off cource, he's always moving. I you pay attention to his front foot, it kind of rolls as he balances. Thats what I do when I manual and it always works.

this might sound a little odd to all u pros here (or at least the better sk8rs) but i just lift my front foot up (not off the board duh!). the more i lift my foot, the higher the deck goes. i find that tahts the easiest way for me. i can now manual for 2 seconds. i no its not alot but considering i only tried manuals 2day im pretty happy.

All it is, is practise. No matter what you try, it comes over time.

I found the best way to practice them is to find a long hill that's not too steep and that won't make you go too fast. For me, I manual a little better if I have start and end points like a small crack or parked cars.

The only way to get better at manuals it to practice.

Get some chalk and put a mark on the concerete. Start a manual at the mark and see how far you can hold it. Put another mark at the spot where you stopped manualing. Then, do it again and see if you can make it past your previous mark. Everytime you make it past, set a new mark. Try to break your previous record as often as you can. It's a lot of fun.

I thought that if u do them stationary, it's not a manual.

It's all about finding that sweet spot. Like Chinaskate said, you just need to practice. After awhile, you'll be able to hit that spot, and it will become easy.
